Just wondering who else wrestles with their pups. :) I know some people don't like encouraging the rough play, but I'm cool with it as long as Juno understand it's only okay if I (or someone else) initiate it, and she has to stop when told "enough." The rules do get flimsy sometimes though.... lol.

Juno absolutely lights up when it's time for a rasslin' match. And then for a few minutes afterwards she is completely glued to me and stares at my face, like "are we gonna do it again?!?" I wish I had a video of us playing together... to an outsider it would sound like I'm being mauled by the most aggressive dog ever! She maintains a relatively soft bite (and she's so careful around my face--if I put my hands up to my face, all of a sudden I get kisses instead of bites, lol) but the growling she throws out is insane.

If I throw a blanket over myself, she really goes cuckoo.

It's not MY favorite game, but good relationships are all about compromise, right? :D

Before I got pregnant, I would wrestle with our male, he is the same way...it actually freaked my mom out the first time she saw us wrestle together bc she thought he would hurt me!! It looks like he is biting me, but doesn't even close his mouth on my skin!! He is so delicate and the biggest baby ever!! i think i actually did record a video on my webcam, pretty funny!!

My husband and boys do wrestle with Darby. My boys love to put a blanket over themselves and she just goes crazy jumping around and 'grabbing' their feet as they giggle and squirm around. My boys are 10 and 12 and have been around dogs all their life. She too lets out some of the nastiest growls, especially when playing really rough with my husband. When we first adopted it her it made me nervous because we didn't 'know' her but my husband was always fully confident that she was playing. He'd say, "If she really wanted to bite me, she would." She is very soft with her mouth but, man, the noises she makes are just demonic!

we wrestle with nala too. we have so much fun with it because of how aggressive she sounds. yes it sounds like she is tearing us up but in reality she doesn't bite down and always stops when i say stop. i always test this to make sure she isn't getting to out of hand and she is always quick to respond. she gets lots and lots of praise for stopping.

she is also very gentle around the face unless of course she is going for the ears...:LOL:which tickles alot and reality is she is gentle but just a sinsative area:D she loves the hands and feet during play.

my DH loves getting under the covers and having her try to get him. she absolutely loves this game with him but then she really like to wrestle too. she is the first dog that i have ever really wrestled with and feel confident that she will not hurt me. I realize she is a dog and that is a possability but i have owened other dogs that i wasn't as comfortable playing with in this manner.

I don't think this type of play is inappropriate as long as you start and stop it when you want. not when the dog wants and the dog knows how to be gentle and what is exceptable and whats not.

We too wrestle with our boy. Although I'll say my wrestling and my husbands wrestling are completely different and Dakota knows that. It's waaayyyy more rough with my husband and like others, Dakota makes some of the most disgusting growling noises. First couple times I heard him doing this I'd make hubby take it down a notch because I thought he was making him mad until I realized this is just how Dakota sounds when he's really into to with him. It really is a nasty sound though and not a sound he makes with me because I don't get so rough with him. Also, when it's me and him and I'm wearing long sleeves Dakota likes to lightly bite on my arms and pull on my sleeves a little and sometimes I'll pull my sleeve up real quick to see how well he's paying attention and as soon as his teeth even barely touch my skin he pulls back. I must say he's very good about it and that's what makes me feel comfortable about the whole wrestling thing. He knows what's ok and what's not ok and also stops when he's told we've had enough. He's not always happy about it thought! Although, I have to say that hubby is quite often on the other end of Dakota's left hook to his face! So far, though, no injuries past a few nails scrathes here and there. :)

My husband wrestles with Arabella all the time. She is usually gentle with the bites, however my husband got nipped the other day. I believe it was more DH's fault then hers. She had a tennis ball in her mouth she was holding onto and when he went to pull it out he got nipped. They were back at it two seconds later.

Boomer and I wrestle quite often in the evenings. There is a lot of boxing going on, so I have to look out for that stray right hook of his. We do play pretty rough, and I do get some scrapes on my arms sometimes. He doesn't bite, but mouths my hands and arms continuously. Yes the skin does get broken occasionally, but not from the biting, it is from him swinging his head around.......those teeth are hard when they hit you. When it is quiting time I just get up and sit on the couch. That stops everything, except his begging for more, LOL. He will walk up to me with those sorry eyes and mouth my hand then lick it.....boxer slobber. If no reaction he will go get one of his chews to entertain himself. Then it is shower time for me....that boxer slobber gets everywhere.

We wrestle yep. Nips a little but thats cause i'm a sissy covering myself and she wants at me. The nails on the head is the worst lol the pain! Climbs on top of my back, crawls over my head... All in good fun. Shes good about calming down. She enjoys it and now thats she's older... so do I.

LOL seriously!! Juno likes to go for the hair... and having your hair covered in dog spit all day isn't the most appealing! :)

It's just too bad it doesn't tire her out as much as it tires me out. I am POOPED after 5-10 minutes of playing with her like this. But she of course is never too tired lol.

Yep, we wrestle with Bella too. She loves it, and why not?? She knows when it is time to stop and if she still wants to play and I don't she will go and find a toy and she is happy enough. My hubby plays rougher with her then I do but she loves either one of us. She makes the cutest sounds but I dread to think what others would think if they heard her.

I just love her to death!! I would wrestle with her all night if I could.
