Do you wear shoes in your house?

boxerma, I could repeat most of your post. :p Zoe and I take our shoes off at the front door, due to the fact that dog poop used to get tracked inside. Loose dogs always poop in our yard. I don't ask other people to take their shoes off, either. Altho I wish they could understand that if Zoe and I take our shoes off at the front door, they could at least acknowledge it.

I usually take my shoes off at the door when i come in and put my house slippers on. My feet tend to stay cold so i like having house slippers on. Plus, it is handy in case i need to step outside for a moment, i don't have to find shoes to put on. Also, Olli usually makes a mess on the floor around his water bowl when he gets a drink and it is so aggravating stepping in water with barefeet or socks! So that is another reason i like wearing house slippers. If i have to come in for something and leave again of course i leave my shoes on. My husband walks right on in with his shoes or boots on and takes them off later if we are home for the day.

Never have worn shoes in the house...it was unthinkable....A sister in law and her family moved to texas about 6 yrs ago and when they were lookin into buying a home they would always take their shoes off when entering a home...and one saleslady instantly said "you must be from Canada...you take your shoes off" never heard this before just thought it was sort of funny...

Well I am from Canada

and I take my shoes off!! We never ever wear shoes in the house. Growing up, our shoes had to be left in the foyer, and our slippers were always there waiting to be put on to wear in the house.
My husband, son and I have always removed our shoes, it just seems a given as I do not recall ever having to ask them to remove them. Hmmmm do you think it is because in winter we wear boots, and have to remove them at the door? This could be why we think nothing of removing our shoes either.

True enough about those winter boots...and spending alot of time on my grandparents farm..it was unthinkable where those boots had been...to be in the house...nope!!!hahaha

Helpful Hint

I take my shoes off at the door upon arrival, only because I hate wearing shoes anymore than absolutely necessary. However, i just bought a condo and it has brand new hard wood floors, i have decided the 'furry four legged creatures' paws nails would be bad enough, but i don't want to deal with scuff marks constantly, so i am converting to a 'shoe free' home. I keep a pair of slippers by the door and switch immediately.

You can go to any el-cheapo store and pick up those terry cloth slippers for CHEAP!!! I will be buying 2-3 womens pairs and 2-3 mens pairs and keep them in the closet. When i entertain i can offer my guests the slippers so they are not uncomfortable wandering around in socks. After my gathering i can throw the slippers into the wash and put them up until the next event.

I only wear shoes around in carpeted houses. I hate the feel of carpet on the bottom of my feet. It almost tickles to me. Just makes my skin crawl. I have no idea where I got that, never met anyone like. I dont mind walking around on hardwood floor or tile or even outside on concrete barefoot, but carpet to me just feels funny. Yes, I'm weird...:p

Wow people actually wear their shoes INSIDE their homes???? :D

We have always taken our shoes off when entering anyones home. It is customary in the Korean culture to do so. That and we have cream colored carpet :p

I feel extremely weird when i do go to a friends house and it is NOT a requirement to take off my shoes. I tiptoe around and pretty soon my shoes are off. Feel extremely weird with shoes on Inside the home.

yes, but our carpet is yukky. when we put in new carpet, i don't want shoes in the house.

We live in the Far East so wearing shoes inside anyone's house is considered bad manners. Even if it wasn't, I still wouldn't wear shoes any more than I have to!
