Question...When we talk about the CHI iron being the best are we talking about the brand name CHI or just any ceramic iron?

The one i got is not the name CHI...its by hair art...but it is ceramic...not ceramic coated...there is a big diff
You can straighten and curl too...as the side is curled ..
I found this one much better than the cheaper one ...as this one just glidded really nice on my hair and made it soo shiny
it almost feels like it PUTS moisture in my hair....trully unbelivable
I used to spend 100 to get my hair coloured and cut....so spending 150 on the iron to have good hairdays everyday is worth it
the iron is normally 250........i bought it at Lords and Ladies at square one...they did my hair with 2 different one so that i could see thae diff

CHI was the first ceramic iron. Other irons can either be ceramic coated or completely ceramic as is the CHI. You get what you pay for. If you were planning on using a ceramic iron every day I would invest in the CHI they sell for $150.00 retail in most salons. They wholesale for $99.00, and are sometimes on sale for $89.00 (here in Ohio). If you have a good relationship with your stylist but they don't carry them they can be purchased from different distributors. I will occasionally pick them up on sale and knowing that a client really can't afford the $150.00 I will sell it to them for my cost. It really is an amazing product, but quite expensive. If you are just wanting something to use every once in awhile I would tell you to purchase a less expensive version at a hair supply chain such as Sally's in the $50-60 range. If you want the CHI but the price is an issue, ask your stylist to sell it to you are their cost, I do it if asked and don't have a problem with it. I really want them to be able to do their hair like I do and come back long term.

I'm definitely going to have to get myself a CHI. I found them on Ebay for $70-$80! I've always had very thick, coarse, wavy hair. It drives me absolutely nuts! One drop of moisture and *poof* I have huge hair. Sigh - you always want what you can't have.....

Okay, just wanted to say that this thread has now cost me over $200!! I went to get a trim today and spoke with my stylist about the CHI. She uses it and just raved about them. She offered to get me one at her cost, which I thought was great. I bought two, one for me and one for my daughter.I also bought two large bottles of the CHI product to help condition the hair when you use the iron. I won't get it till next week. I can't wait to comapre it to the one I use now from Sally's!

Okay first I'll say I just found this thread & wish I found it sooner, then again I wasn't even a member yet when this was brought up. I haven't read the replies but am going too. I have natural VERY curly hair & HATE it!!!! I've always tried finding ways to get it staright. I even had 2 straightners put in that gave me a quarter size bald spot on my head when I was in my teens! I have found a temporary way to straighten my hair & that is with a large curling iron. I'll wash my hair in the heat activated Thermasilk shampoo & conditioner, blow dry it or let it air dry. Then I'll straighten it. My hair is only just past my shoulders now & takes about 30 mins. to straighten. This only works great if my hair does not get wet at all. There has to be zero humidity, absolutely no water of any kind can get near my hair, LOL! This means if I was to sweat, then it would get frizzy wherever sweat touched it. Okay I'm going to go skim thru the replies. Hopefully someone has found a more permanent solution.;)
