I am so relieved that Mozart isn't the only boxer that does this! Both our boxer babies eat like pigs (especially when they get leftovers) but Cassie never spills any, whereas Mozart likes to nose-but his food bowl before tucking in - sometimes he knocks the bowl over and there's food all over the floor clowicon
I can't even begin to describe the mess around the water bowls after they've had a drink!
I like the thought of raised food bowls to save them straining their backs, but I just know that Mozart would knock them over as soon as our backs were turned :rolleyes:

at a dog show a couple of years ago. We've been using them ever since. They are perfect because you set the height perfectly for the dog!! :D They hook over the wire door of the kennels, and as soon as they're done eating, they lift right out.

I just bought Cola a raised dish and she loves it. Plus there aren't any more hiccups from her indigestion....and this one grows with her and stores food underneath. I bought it at Walmart for $19.97. Steel bowls, if i want to attach a water feeder that is an option, so my boo will always have fresh water!!!! I love this website!
Bingo has raised food and water bowls inside, and a flexi feeder for his water outside. He also has travel raised food and water bowls for when we are somewhere else! He's such a mush!! He has a choking like thing he does once and while so we decided to raise his food and not feed him small kibbles in his dog food. We get the larger food and in combo with the raised dishes, it has helped immensely with the choking episodes. He rarely has them anymore.

We bought Scooter a raised food dish last Christmas as we were tired of looking for the bowl as he pushed it all over. Now with the raised dish it doesn't move but he is still a messy eater and some of the food ends up on the floor. The worst part is that he won't eat the food off the floor!!

Yep, you heard it from me, and I heard it from Purdue Actually, though, it's a 110% increase in risk associated with using a raised food bowl (I probably said 200%, though, because that's what I'd heard before I found the actual Purdue site).

But, again, this study was done on large and giant breed dogs, many of which are traditionally fed from raised bowls. I am not convinced that the raised bowls are actually increasing the risk of bloat of if they are just a concurrent phenomenon with dogs who bloat....but it never hurts to know what the risks are
