Do you have a raised food dish?

A few years ago when I feed kibble Mona use to choke on her kibble,even when I soaked it. I started feeding her on a raised feeder and that helped.

When I started feeding raw a few years ago I noticed she threw up(she has a pancreas problem) :confused: Then I put her bowl on the floor,I figured animals in the wild eat off the ground and since she was eating raw food like them maybe she would do better with her bowl on the ground and she did do better:D so the raised feeders are now plant holders.

Ours are not raised and they all seem to do fine. Even though I have read that raised dishes might prevent bloat, I think it has more to do with the amount they eat, how fast they eat it and if they have just been romping or exercising a lot.

Ours have food out when they want, they never gobble!! The like their food, and get it when they want. I mean think about this aspect, do wolves and other animals move their prey high? Maybe they are not as deep chested, but who knows. I did read the information on the study that Julie M posted and it seemed somewhat credible to me...

Go back and reread Julie's post. It said that feeding from raised bowls actually *increases* bloat, not decreases it.

I know that's why I said we don't have raised bowls..... My other statement wasn't from the actual studies, it was from what has been said before...

We had gotten raised food dishes for Lisa -- hoping that her gas would lessen up -- no way -- same gas attacks -- and some bring tears to your eyes!:p doesn't seem to bother her at all -- just us!!! :D

First of all, to Eric, yes I have the type of system you mentioned, y me encanta por la facilidad de limpiarlo! My feeling is that raised is cleaner, and the most important factor in the decision is whether the dog's line had bloat somewhere.

Whether raised or not, I love stainless steel, and the deeper the better for water (my slurper gets water everywhere!) .
