I crate Little Girl for her own safety. She likes to get into things. Her favorite is paper products (toliet paper and paper towels). I was putting her in the bathroom (which is very large) when I would come home she would have the toilet paper all schreaded up. She started chewing the moulding too. So, I have to crate her now. She does not mind to be in her crate. I no longer have to worry about what she is getting into.

Boomer goes into his crate when I'm not home. I'm so thrilled that his separation anxiety is close to disappearing altogether! Of course, when I get home after work, I have a kidney-beaning tornado waiting for me once I open the crate.

Cheers,

We have been pretty lucky. Ozzy is now 9 months and the only damage he has done is when he was a baby he chewed the corners of my cheap coffee tables.....so now that the teething has passed I get new tables. But really Ozzy has full run of the house when we are at work and at night. I guess you can say he really has been our little angelicon

Crated for us! I am in the process of getting a couple of baby gates to "see" if I can try to expand them to the confines of the kitchen, with their open crates still in one corner to give them a little more room. Just don't want to create monsters since they really are fine with just their crates. I just feel that if someone came into the house, they'd not be a very big threat locked away in their crates. Not to mention I'd just like to give them a little more roam-room without compromising the safety of the rest of the "edibles" in the house. smashicon

We crate Auggie (1.5 yrs old) all of the time no matter how long we are going to be gone b/c if he isn't in his crate he get's nervous and freaks out. We tried leaving him in our basement (it's a finished basement) while we ran to the store for about 30 minutes. When we got back he was waiting at the basement door and had tried to chew his way through the wall. There was a huge puddle of drool dripping from the trim around the door. :) Poor guy! Needless to say we haven't tried leaving him out again and probably won't.

I use to crate my 5 month old boxer every day. And every day he would poop in his crate, so when we moved into the new place i would leave the back door (no doggy door yet) open and he will go outside and use the bathroom when he needs to.......Never any accidents.......it is really amazing of what I use to go through with the crate. He does not chew up anything besides the occasonal paper towel or something stupid. I leave tons of toys around.........The only thing that sucks about my way is i'm sure my air bill is going to reflect me leaving the door open all day!

Bruiser is crated when we leave. We have however started leaving him out at night. He has adapted very well and has not yet had an accident. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!

Our babies would have voted whats a crate.

We have a HUGE kitchen that is attached to the back area...so we just put up a gate and that way they have access to out side and play, potty, and drink if they are thirsty. We have never had a reason to crate....they do really well in the kitchen. I know that its not for everyone, but I works for us and for them. ;)

Our 2 go to their doggy run when we are out.
Crates don't seem to be as popular over here as they do in other countries.
I'm not sure why this is, maybe it has something to do with the climate.
Anyway I guess there is not that much difference between a crate & a dog run.
Both are supposed to simulate the denning instincts of a dog & like a crate we find the dog run gives us great peace of mind when we are out, knowing that they can't get into too much trouble.
What's more Ali & Eric just love their run. :)
