My husband and I have gone round and round on this. I allow the dogs up and he gives me the "look". Like Johann's mom we too have a new leather set ordered. And I did the same scratch test and checked different thicknesses of leather. I went with leather because I figured I could just wipe it down instead of having to steam clean the sofa (even tho' I keep a blanket on it) . As For the bed there is an old quilt on part of the bed and the dogs know that is their "section".

Cami was allowed anywhere she wanted. Never ruined anything or made it smelly.
Her house, her furniture, her bed......

Same at our house. Tessa and Tucker are allowed where they want and all of the furniture is just fine. We use febreze quite often and do a lot of laundry to keep the blankets on the couch and bed clean. Nothing smells like dog and we prefer to have them around us (snuggling on the couch, in bed, etc).

same here - Sam goes where ever ~ except the baby stuff ( and he knows what belongs to lukas ) and we have NEVER had our house smell like dog or our furniture ~ i do keep a nice matching blanket on the sofa - and a quilt on top of my comforter ( much easier to wash then dry cleaning the comforter ) and all is well ! i agree , he is a part of the family , i like him where i am at !!!

Slipcovers, sheets, and cheap blankers  All worth it to have that cute little head on my lap. I just keep a bunch of them around and wash a lot. Take them off for company and back on when they golovicon

Nope. None of our dogs are allowed on the furniture. They have their own pillow and crates that they are allowed on/in but no beds, couches, etc. Never have never will.

I think this question should be re-worded to:

Does your Boxer allow you on the furniture? ;)

Zeus actually has his own bedroom and bed.

You are so right!! Cami, and my Fraze, are at the bridge so I know you and I are soooooo glad they "got to have it all" It is a personal choice but I like your perspective Hope memories of your sweet girl bring you comfort

LOL, so true. It's a common occurance for Johann to be stretched out across the couch while I sit on the floor.

I think part of why our couch stained was because it was a super cheap microfiber fabric.....tons of drool marks on it.

oh Yes!

Sarge owns the couch! It is his and nobody can sit on it without him! ha ha ha ha I have to clean it all the time he drules all over the armrests! ha ha ha Good think its leather but he has several blankies he likes to lay on while on the couch and they get washed often, cuts down on the dog smell. ok he is spoiled, but when I look in those big brown eyes and see that pouty little face I can't be mean and say no! lol

Yup, my boys also have free run of it all! Heck, I allowed my drooling, messy children on it, why not my boxer boys? As far as the dog smell, lots of cleaning, Febreeze and laundry, but they are SO worth it all.
