Do Boxers bark alot? Hmmm, let me think.....um, MINE DOES! She barks when she wants attention, she barks when she is playing, she "talks back", she barks when she hears an unfamiliar sound (different tone). Basically, she barks ALOT. If I tell her "quiet" she will talk back and then turn into chewbacka. "ruff ruff wawawawa" lol. I have noticed the different tones and can identify what she wants when she barks. The "dont ignore me" bark is a high shrill bark. The "I want to play" bark is a deeper tone but constant mixed with burning around the house. The " I heard something" bark is a very deep series of barks with her hair standing up and her posed in a "Im gonna get you" stance. I love a dog that barks. My baby that went to the bridge in January use to alert me to all sorts of things and I knew what each bark was. I missed that. Now Shotze does the same thing. Kinda bitter sweet thinking about it.
But, yeah, it depends on the dog really. Some are very vocal , others arent. If you get one that is, think of it as a child letting you know what it wants. Listen close and youll be able to tell.

Layla only barks when she's playing with Dad, when she wants Dad to play with her, or if I tell her to stop doing something, ANYTHING! She has a smart mouth on her, and quite an attitude! But I love her to pieces, and wouldn't have her any other way!

Tyson only barks at certian times.

For instance.

When Ty wants in from outside, he'll bark.
When Beamer is eating out of Tys bowl, he'll bark. .
When Beamer is eating out his OWN bowl, he'll bark.
When the cats eat out of Tys bowl, he'll bark.
When the cats eat out of Beamers bowl, he'll bark.
When the cats eat out of their OWN bowl, he'll bark.
When we eat, he'll bark.
When Beamer has the toy that Ty wants, he'll bark.
When Beamer ignores Ty, he'll bark.
When I blow dry my hair, he'll bark.
When I sweep the floor, he'll bark.
When I yell at him, he'll bark.
When he can't get past the barrier in the hall to follow the cats, he'll bark.
When you walk out of his sight out side, he'll bark.

Really, other than that, he's pretty quiet.

Seriously, its all good, he's still a pup right now and just likes to voice his opinion on everything. I wouldn't trade him for nothing.

Cleo didn't bark at all until she was over 5 months old! To this day she only barks at people walking by and when she wants something that Jake has. Imagine my surprise when Jake starting barking from the day I brought him home at 12 weeks! Now, he is much more vocal than Cleo. He barks as he pulls me to get to another dog, barks when we get to daycare - the second I let him out of the car, barks for whatever Cleo has and barks at people walking by - but not until Cleo starts it. Cleo's is very deep when she sees strangers and she seems so intimidating. Of course as soon as she gets up to someone she kidney beans and licks! Her bark is much more sharp when she wants whatever Jake has. Piercing!

Maggie barks a good bit but it is always to tell me something (she wants more water, food, treat, to go outside, for me to pet her, etc.) It has never really been a problem though and I think it is very smart that they can communicate the way they do. I promise you they are the best dogs and you will be so glad you made a boxer to be a part of your life or that the boxer made you a part of theirs.

Coco barks sometimes when she's playing (mostly growls) and to talk back. Boy can she be sassy! If you fuss at her, she'll bark back at you but generally does what you tell her anyway. I think she's just letting us know she doesn't particularly want to to what we're telling her, she'd rather be onary :) She's absolutely ALL Boxer!

Mya hardly ever barks. She takes the term "Watchdog" literallybookicon. When she is outside in her kennel she will stop whatever she is doing to sit down and watch frogicon when someone comes into our driveway. We live out in the country so we don't get many strangers walking by. She is only 3.5 mths old so maybe her idea of being a watchdog will change but for now, she only barks at her toys.

Rocky barks when he see's another dog or is really excited. When he does bark he makes people jump because his bark is very deep. He is a big talker but mstly when we coo in baby talk to him.

My Lola is not much of a barker, she only barks when someone knocks at the door. She sits in the doorway as often as she can to watch traffic and people walking by, we live on a busy main street, and she doesn't make a sound unless you go for the door. Even if other dogs walk by she is quiet. She is vocal in other ways, she loves to woo-woo and make chewie sounds when she wants something. She knows how to speak (bark) on command.
But I do think barking depends on each dogs personality. Her littermate(brother) barks at the wind and everything else

My dog thinks she's a diva

Our first boxer we had since he was tiny. We taught him no bark from the start. His "job" was to be a friend to everyone. WE had already dealt with an aggressive dog. Our boxer never barked, and was sweet to all. After we lost him, we were given a 4 month old? boxer who had been raised with her parents. She is well...... a guard dog. She thinks my children are hers to defend. Kicks dirt everywhere, barking , snarling, hairraised, everything. She's a little snaught and proud of it. But hey, I know my kid's safe in the back yard right :) anyway, I think it's all about how you raise them
good luck S@ndi
