You know I am pretty hot about the whole don't leave food at dog level. Last time I checked it was my house. And if my 3 yo can follow my rules so can the dogs...
Dogs are NOT people and therefore they do NOT think like people. Comparing your dog to your child is not an equal comparison.

I can not watch her 24/7...
True, just like I can't watch my boys 24/7. However, I can make sure that the things that I don't want them to have are out of their reach before I leave the room. If I should happen to make a mistake and leave something (food, shoes, etc.) at their level and they get destroyed, it's not their fault. I don't sit there blaming them for my mistakes. It's just not fair to them.

Daisy knows better. she does this crap because she gets time out. I will not have it.
I'm confused by this statement. She misbehaves because she gets time out?

My boys are very well behaved, but they do have the occassional slip up here and there. It's just a reminder that are not perfect and that they need to be trained throughout their lives. Not just until the problem seems to be solved.

Not to mention she is in time out... for most of the last 2 days...
This may explain part of the reason why she has been misbehaving. If she's in time out so much (being ingnored) chances are she's just seeking attention. Even if it's negative attention that you're giving her, it's still attention.

YOU left the food where she could get it.

People don't know how it is here, I am military and a deployed members spouse... and a mommy and pregnant... But yet I can't vent for 2 minutes without getting almost punished, because I am pissed

Sound like you just have too much on your plate, but getting mad and yelling at the board (by typing all caps) is just plain rude and you can tell right from wrong Daisy can't

I just wanted to add that people here are not trying to upset, bash, or belittle you in any way. I am sure we have all gotten upset with our dogs, shoot I have gotten flat out at mad at mine. Sometimes it is sooo hard to understand how they can be so good one day and in to everything the next. When you post a problem, people just want to help. Just try to relax, back up a little to really look at the problems you are having with Daisy and the advice people are giving. You have said how much you love Daisy so I know you want to try to understand her and have the best relationship with her that you can.

I have to agree with everything everyone has said above, but keep in mind that people here are only offering you friendly advice. It may not be exactly what you want to hear but keep an open mind and you might find some of it useful :)

I know it is hard to remember sometimes because our Boxers are so human-like, but they dont comprehend things like people do, even 3 year old people. Asia is incredibly child like but I wouldn't think that she can think the same way as my 2 year old cousin...

Your situation actually happenned to me the other day - I was eating and I gave Asia a couple of bites of my meat. I went to the bathroom (left my plate on the table tray), came back and she was licking her chops and half my meat was gone! But, that was my fault because I was the one who gave it to her to begin with. Of course she thought 'Hmmm, this is really good' ... then you walk off and she thinks 'Mom gave it to me once, so it's okay to eat again'! You can't really blame Daisy 100% for this...

Like you said, it is your house, but if you don't want food to be eaten by the dog, don't leave it out where she can reach it. If you have to, teach your daughter that if she leaves her food out when she isn't around, Daisy will eat it and remind her she wouldn't want that (I know how kids are with their snacks, :))!

No one is bashing you, or your daughter, or anyone...they're just offering advice, which I hope you realize is not meant to hurt your feelings or upset you in any way ;)

I am sorry for getting upset... But she is never like this... My DH was home she always listened... It took me 3 out of 5 months to get her to where she would listen... This is the dog that also bit me... I pushed her away a couple months ago and she bit the hell out of my hand... I had to call the OB and explain and ask if I had to get a rabies shot... She almost went to a friends house then... I have a 3 inch scar on my hand.. Not to mention I am pregnant and I don't know how she is going to act around the new baby... Yes I am scared. I was raised with dogs... I was raised all my life on a farm... We never had a dog do this... I love her dearly but she scared me.. .I wouldn't let my daughter around her for 2 weeks because Daisy was being a real pain... But ever since I have been at BW people have helped but now she is back in the old swing of things... My husband flipped out tonight and said wait till he gets home and I will dominate her again, I told him no, if she is going to only listen to him then I don't want that. She is our dog not just his... This dog is great... Just that I don't want her biting me anymore. She tasted my blood my dad flipped out when I told him that she drew blood... He is a southern all the way... He said get rid of her because she has your blood in her mouth now... I told him Daisy would never do it again... Yes I am very believing in the dog... SHe is MY baby... This is the dog that would kill someone if they hurt me or my family... But sometimes she is too damn stubborn... I am sorry if I offended anyone but my 3yo is more important than Daisy and I am just alone in my house with her and my dogs... Its been a hard 5 months... please understand that... we found out I was a month pregnant 2 weeks after her left for Iraq... so this is extremely hard and Daisy has pushed alot of buttons but never would I hurt or harm her... I am not crazy just hormonal... Trust me there is alot of times where I could let her go to another home but I would miss all of her woos and sighs and those big brown eyes looking at me saying, "what I didn't do it Skye did it?"Please forgive me if I hurt someones feelings... Thanks

Wow, this does sound like a tough situation. I have two small children with my 10 month old boxer boy, and I know it can be tough juggling everyone. It really does sound like you have your hands full. Is there anyone you know who might be willing to take Daisy for a long walk everyday, or at least several times a week? Someone who loves dogs, but just can't have one right now? This would help work some energy out of her. I find Porter to be much better behaved when he gets a good amount of exercise. I'm guessing its pretty tough for you take Daisy for a walk with your current situation...at least you would have to be pretty creative!
I have pretty much approached Porter just like my young toddler. I don't leave anything at his level he shouldn't have. With how full your plate is, you don't need any extra hassles, messes to clean up, etc... so just keeping everything out of reach saves everyone the aggravation. Porter has stolen food out of my young ones' hands, but I've just tried to roll with it. Often it is because my youngest offers it to him! :) I do tell him no, and take it away if I can, but my children are so young right now, its hard to set up firm discipline about this. He is not aggresive about it, so I don't see it as anything to get super worked up about.
I feel for you; you are really stretched right now. Hang in there. Sometimes you have to just laugh and lower your expectations to maintain your sanity!

Oh my! It sounds like you are having a really rough time right now.

I want to share what "helps" with my family. First, we have a 1 year old son and a 2 year old daughter, and also a 10 year old. :) And, a big, spoiled white boxer. :)

Anyway, regarding the food issue, if one of the toddlers are running around with food in their hands, I stay right with dog to make sure that she's not going to bother the toddlers. It's an ongoing process. It helps teach both toddlers and the dog about respecting each other. :)

Somedays, it's very frustrating. I know how you feel. Chloe has stolen food from the toddlers too. It does get annoying, but I know that if I stay consistant with the dog, it'll all work out perfectly. :)

Patience and consistancy is the key!

Hang in there! Good luck! And congrats on the new baby! :)

Want to first say that I understand how you are feeling. Try to stay calm and just remember that Daisy is a baby too. As good as Nestle is, there are times that I know she just can't resist like when she opened ALL of the x-mas presents. She has spent weeks home around these presents but one day, she
just tore into them. Because our boxer babies are so good and smart, we often forget that they are just babies and as curious as can be.

You must be under a huge amount of pressure and probably were so excited for you hubby to see how far Daisy has come... You have to remember that your anxiety and stress is very clear to both your 3 year old and Daisy. Daisy may just be reacting to the stress you have been feeling. Maybe you should try a little mommy/Daisy time so you can relax a bit.

Hey, if you can find someone to take care of your little one, run off and get yourself a massage and unwind.

I can't get a massage... I am pregnant... :( They won't allow us too.. Especially since I am 5 months now.. I tried to get a prego massage and doc said no... But I have got a babysitter... Thanks for the ideas.
