This isn't really long but I have to vent since DH has a couple more days till he comes home from Iraq..... ARG... Time is moving slow...
Well back to Daisy... Yesterday morning I made my 3 yo cresent rolls for breakfast... I gave Daisy the rest of mine since she was just looking at me with those big sad eyes... like I am starving.. mind you she just ate... Well I am running around the house trying to wash clothes get a shower etc...
I come in the kitchen and ALL of the remaining cresent rolls are GONE! I look at Daisy she cowers to the floor... licking her lips mind you!!! So I put her in her kennel for time out... THIS MUST NOT HAVE SANK INTO HER HEAD THAT EATING PEOPLE FOOD IS A NO NO... This morning my daughter had a fruit rollup and she placed it on the coffee table to run potty... I come back from folding clothes and who has the roll up... none other than the infamous Daisy... HELP ME!!! SHE WAS COMPLETELY BROKEN OF THIS MONTHS AGO..Why is she doing this? She has left people food alone for months now... P.S the cresent rolls were on my counter on pushed to the back... ARG ARG

Maybe she senses your anxiety over hubbys return from Iraq and is trying to get your attention anyway she can. Just a thought...hope this helps!

I am going to ring her neck... She was doing so well... she justs looks at me like I am so sorry... Then she does it again... She won't even look at me now she was in time out and I took the food from her... I feel awful but I must be strong and not give in... I dont think I can be strong anymore.... She is so cute when she pouts... It must be the pregnancy hormones... I love my dog

Now how much sense does that make? I know you were talking about the crate in the second quote, but she wants people food b/c she knows how wonderful it is.
Somethimes taking a look from the outside helps. Cisco anoys me with his begging when I eat, but he does it b/c I sometimes give him a bite. And I know it is my fault.
Are you sending her mixed messages? Just hoping to help. :o

It hasn't worked so far with Owen, but to keep my cat from begging, I never give her food when I'm eating. If I want to give her a bit of cooked egg or chicken, I wait until she isn't looking and put it in her bowl. Owen begs like a starving man, but he doesn't get ANY human food (partly because of the begging and partly because of the allergic reactions of unknown origin.) If he begs toooooo badly, I send him to his crate. That way I can't see the sad sad face and cave in :D !

Good Luck!!!!

Ok.. My daughter is 3 and its not her fault she has to potty and runs to do it... Daisy has never taken food off of the coffee table. She knows that is she is offered she can have it but if not she can't. This dog isn't dumb. She knows the rules and was following up to 2 days ago. By the way she just popped in front of me... Don't blame me 3 yr old when the dog knows better.

You know I am pretty hot about the whole don't leave food at dog level. Last time I checked it was my house. And if my 3 yo can follow my rules so can the dogs... Or whiemy doesn't do this either... Daisy poops in front of you when she has just came back in side... That is a problem... I can not watch her 24/7... I am a married/single mom for the last 5 months due to my husband being in Iraq... Daisy knows better. she does this crap because she gets time out. I will not have it. As far as my daughter keep her out of it... She is 3!

I believe "most" dogs, would find it hard to resist temptation if it was right there in front of their nose like that. We have taught our dogs not to jump up on us or beg while we are eating and even though they are fairly good about that part I would never leave food on the coffee or end tables at their eye level and leave the room. I have even gotten myself in the habit of picking my beveridge up and carrying with me if I leave the room. I would rather play it safe and avoid the mess. I understand what you are saying about your 3 yr old not knowing any better, but don't blame the dog for doing what came natural to her either.
With potty training it sounds like she needs a refresher course. I would go back to square one, take her out often, keep her crated when you can't keep a close eye on her. Don't expect her to automatically know and remember things the way a person does. You have to train her and that is a continuous process.

I can see that you are frustrated and I understand it must be hard to take care of the dogs and your child while your husband is away in Iraq. Please just don't take it all out on the dog.

See that's just it.. Daisy knows better.. Especially with skin babys food. She has never touched anything that belonged to her... She won't even take food from her, its pisses me off that people say its my DD fault when I didn't know that she left it. Daisy has never taken food like that... To this she was on the couch eating it like big people.. She is not allowed on the couch... I don't know if she is showing resentment for daddy coming home and we are preparing for it or that I am pregnant and showing DD alot of attention. Not to mention she is in time out... for most of the last 2 days... She is going back to the way she was when DH left... Which is making me crazy... I was going to give her to a friend after he left because I was beginning to go crazy with her... She was doing so well and now she is regressing... People don't know how it is here, I am military and a deployed members spouse... and a mommy and pregnant... But yet I can't vent for 2 minutes without getting almost punished, because I am pissed

I understand you are going through a rough time right now, and I feel for you.
Venting about it is fine, but you ARE sending mixed signals to your dog. We are all dog lovers here, that's why we are here, so you will have to expect to get honest answers to why everyone thinks Daisy is acting the way she is.

If you want to keep your 3 yr old out of it, then don't post about her.
