Completely Boxer Crazy
When I got Maddie 4 years ago I thought doing the ears was a must. Why I did her ears is now beyond me:rolleyes:

When and if I am ever blessed to get another boxer I will not crop the ears. At least I get smarter with age.:D

Benson's ears are natural. I wasn't planning to show so there was really no reason for me to have them cropped. I like his floppy ears he looks cute with them!! I have no real preference all Boxers are beautiful.

Floyd's Bruiser

We just had Bruiser cropped so I voted cropped. I like the lines and shape left to the head when the ears are cropped. I also plan to show Bruiser and it is a rule they must be cropped. If I didn't plan to show him I would still have it done though. I also like natural ears I just lean twoards the cropped look more.

Mollys ears are cropped and I love it. I will do this to any future dogs that I may own that are known for cropped ears. It takes a lot of work to maintain them, but the finished product makes for a breathtaking looking boxer.

Where do you live again Floyd? I remember Louisiana but not exactly where. Perhaps we can get Bruiser and Molly together in the future?

cropped or natural

Read everybody's opinions about the boxer ears. I chose to have the natural floppy ears. I like the look because they seem so much more friendly & approachable. I can appreciate the "Look" that others choose because they are beautiful & tailored & so very neat. If one is going to show their boxer, it is required. However, for those of us who just like a boxer for a family pet, there is no need to put the dog thru the discomfort & surely, there must be some if one's ears are being shortened. As for as the tail, well, one doesn't have the option, or at least, I didn't, as my boxer was bought from the pet store (which I know all of you guys are going to yell at me about, but I didn't buy her, my kids did for a Xmas present) My preference - no cropped ears! I chose not to crop Harley's ears since he is white & he has alot of color to his ears. They are kinda polka-dotted, the get more dots everyday it seems.
I plan to eventually get another boxer & crop it's ears.
For some reason I always thought you had to get their ears cropped, like it was a law or something...hehe. I'd never seen a boxer with natural ears.

Since this thread came back up, just a reminder that Stephanie's original question was which type of ears does your dog *have*, not which ear you prefer. Several people have noted their preference, so I just wanted to clarify again so that she gets the information she wants. :)

Hera's Mom: Cropped is not *required* for conformation showing any longer, although depending on the judge, it may not hurt - there are a few natural-eared US and Canadian dogs competing in conformation ring with great success, and I am happy to see it.

I like both natural and cropped, but have always had natural dogs - and actually I think cropping is like a haircut, cropped looks really good on certain dogs and not good on others, and the same with natural, good on some, not so good on others. Since all my own dogs have been natural, I voted that way.

:)

Cropped ears illegal in parts of Europe

In the UK and Ireland it is illegal to crop! Don't know about the rest of Europe
