Hate to tell you this, but you purchased the old formula of Canidae if you purchased it in a 40 pound bag. Canidae started making the new formula in 35 pounds bags.

no, the kibbles are light on the new formula (the old one, the kibbles were dark and more stubby shapes, weren't they?)

it's been 3 bags i purchase with the new formula, the kibbles are little brown, and flatter...
i got all 3 bags of the new formula in 40lbs bags....

Supposedly Canidae is coming out with a grain free formula within the next couple of months so that may be an option for some. For now I put my guys on Natural Balance Lamb Meal and Brown Rice.

I just picked up a bag, the new bag threw me off, I thought they just reduced the amount of food, but after reading it appears the formula changed. It's unfortunate because that was the attractive thing about Canidae, 40lbs bag for $38. Evo is something like $57 for a 28lbs bag, that's alot of scratch. I hope the new formula sits well with Mia and Taz (chihuahua). If not, then I gotta find another similar quality food as the old recipe in a 35lbs bag or greater. Any suggestions?

Sorry, I SCOURED and couldn't find anything in a bag that size with similar ingredients. I switched to Natural Balance Lamb Meal and Brown Rice which had similar ingredients, but it comes in 28 pound bags, so I simply get 2 at a time.

Thanks for looking. Since I still have some of the old formula left I'm gonna start to mix in the new just like you would when switching brands, hopefully that will lessen the chances of GI upset.

Oh no sorry, I had scoured for me as I needed something similar ingredient wise for my dogs. Sorry if that was confusing.

Just wanted to add my two cents. Both my boxers are soooo sick from the new formula! Beware should you have dogs with sensitive tummies like I do.

I've been mixing the old with the new. Both Mia and Taz are on half old and half new, no problems whatsoever. Their poops are normal color and the consistency is the same. I'm guessing they changed the formula enough that it would affect a dog the same as if you switched directly from Canidae to Innova or vice versa. Tomorrow they will be on 3/4 new and 1/4 old and then by weeks end all new. I'll keep everyone posted.
