'Ere this is for dharmadoodle, a gel after me own 'eart..innit funny, that peeple 'ave a pre concieved idea abhat ya, jus' becoz of the way ya talk...Like if ya goin' sumwere really posh, or a job interview or sumfink... an ya put yer best whistle on, an git yer 'ighlights done, an' a decent cut to the barnet, an yer know you look the bizznez...right dressed to impress...an then when ya get there, you can tell you've made a big 'it wiv the way ya look....then yer open yer gob to speak... an' the old cockney accent comes aut, an ya can see the shock, coz It's so not wot they expected!!!
An also wen I tell peeple I got a Boxa dog,They crease wiv laffter coz I'm such a little bird, they cant fink why I want such a big dog!!!!

I don't think as Americans we speak the "same" English. I was born and raised in Miss-er-ah (Missouri) and moved to Looseeana (Louisiana) when I was 19. WOW whatta change that was for me. In the area where I was living Cottonport, there were so many cultures and differences. There were Cajuns, and Cajun-French, French, African American, Puerto Rican, and so many others. With all those different cultures and languages it all blends together to produce one unique form of language. And then there were also the generational differences.

Here (in Missouri) we say: Has the mail run yet?
They say: Has the mail passed by?
We say: Let's do up those dishes and put them away.
They say: Let's wash the dishes and save them.
We say: Take those dirty clothes to the laundry-mat.
They say: Take the dirty clothes to the washateria.
We say: What? (When someone calls our name.)
They say: Yes sir or ma'am.

I noticed they were much more polite down south than we are here in the Mid-west.

I got lots of comments about my Missouri Accent. I didn't even know I had one. LOL
