Auggie's 4 years old and I have never seen him lift his leg. I think that he is going to be a squatter for life.

bailey was neutered at 6 months (due to a medical prob) and very rarely lifts his! when he does, he lifts it so high he almost falls over!!!! its very funny! he usually ends up peeing all over his feet tho. and he hates that!! he looks down all disgusted as if 'who put that there!' i dont think hes ever going to start doing it regularly!

Gus still squats to pee, he's only 6 months old. Sometimes, if he pees for awhile, he'll lift his leg near the end even though we're in the middle of the yard and he's not peeing on anything but grass :) I've heard that if you get them fixed before they start marking territory they will never mark territory. We have a male labrador that we got fixed before he started marking territory and he still squats to pee (he's 21 months).

Daisy's trainer told me that too. Her male boxer, Knuckles, is also a squatter.

Jacob does both. If he wants to "make his mark" on something then he lifts his leg. If he's just "going" because he has to then he squats. Sometimes he even does this sort of squat-lift-thing, I wish I knew what he was thinking!!!

Tyson bends his back legs a little [semi-squat?], but he lifts that leg high when he's marking territory...or killing a shrub - lol

I prefer the squat!!!
Me too! Although I don't have a male boxer, my Alex is almost 9 years old and still squats. Odd thing is I didn't have him spayed until he was about 6 yrs old. On a rare occasion he will lift his leg. I honestly thought he only squated because he had no trees or bushes, but I don't know.

squatting

Beau is 10 months and still squats. It was recommended that I have him neutered before he began hiking his leg to prevent his marking my furniture! I took the advice and am quite happy with his squatting because I don't think I'd be too happy with yellow tinted furniture!!

snoop is 6 1/2 months and tried to hike his leg once and fell over and pee'd all over himself. Has not tried since, but he doesn't really squat either.

Katahdin is 1 & 1/4 years old and it depends on how much/badly he has to go pee as to whether he lifts his leg or not. Most times he lifts his leg, but other times when its been awhile since he has been taken out, he will squat. I think it's a balance thing! LoL

Marley is almost 3 and he does both. If he's in the yard or somewhere flat, he'll just "squat". If it's on a tree, bush, building, etc. then he'll lift his leg.
