Bye Spike

My mom had to put her baby down this morning. Spike was a small mixed breed, 16 years and 3 months old. Last week they diagnosed him with renal failure and for the past two days he wouldn't eat or drink. She decided it was best to just put him to rest.

We had him since I was in 4th grade and I know when I visit this weekend the house will feel empty even though her other three dogs are still there. My mom is extremely upset and I feel bad I couldn't have been there with her (something at work prevented me from going), luckily my grandmother went with her.

Spike, you will be missed, luckily we have 16.25 years of fond memories of you to carry us through. Bye Bye baby brother.

Love is such a powerful thing. For over 16 years Spike gave your family so much love and now that love is gone. We feel empty no matter what the age or how many more animals we have. My heart is saddened for you and your mom. May his little spirit live on and on and one day the pain will lessen and you will be able to remember him without sadness. Take care. Rest in peace little Spike.
