My boxer has the same characteristics. On the other hand, my mother's bxer, Pancho will flip his food bowl over when he is hungry. I've never seen another dog do that before!

Torturing the cat

Katie Scarlett (here for only 13 years 3 months) favorite thing to do was to torture the cat. Her preferred techniques were to walk by, put the cat under her paw and give him a good Boxer lick. The cat had a favorite toy, actually just a fuzzy pad for a horses halter...he loved it, so of course, Katie would walk up to him, take it away and sashay absolutely pleased as punch with herself. She and the cat were friends though and he could eat from her bowl while she did and she never minded...the cat just risked a sloppy lick being so close.

It's an empty house without one.

re: torturing the cat

My 13 year old and 23 lb furry love bomb of a cat trained both Gracie and George. Gracie is respectful. George is a terrible little boy. Being deaf, George couldn't hear the "you're really pushin' it dog" growl the cat would give just before smacking him. However, George could anticipate the smack and could dodge it (Gracie never could). Then he would put his big ole white paw on top of the cat's head and grin from floppy ear to floppy ear. The madder Skittles got, the more George enjoyed it. He knew exactly what the "mad kitty" face meant, and he thoroughly enjoyed annoying the cat to no end. Kind of like my 17 year old son and me. The madder or more annoyed he can make me in the morning, the more his day is made! I think it's a boy thing!

My Katie will take her bowl out of the tray and walk it around the house.

Funny thing happened once: (Sorry if it is long) I have one of those dog feeders that is for large dogs, it sets the bowls about 1.5ft off the floor so that the dog doesnt have to stoop to eat, anyhow, one night i went to bed and the bowls were resting in the holes just fine. The next morning i get up and the two bowls are sitting side by side in the middle of the living room floor. The first thing i thought was "Oh My goodness, i have a ghost!" i spent many a night scared to death. Then one day, here comes my katie walking her bowl to my feet, as if to say "Uhhhh....it's empty, dont you think you should do something about this?" if i dont move she will play with the bowl, tossing it in the air. I was so very relieved that a ghost hadnt moved the bowls i couldnt care if she tore the bowls up!

Woo Woo Song

What a good description, the jack-hammer. I never knew what to call it.Newman always sleeps under the covers. What is the WooWoo song? I'm wondering if it is their whining?

The Woo Woo song is when they talk to you...sounds like Chewbacca from Star Wars. You will know it when you hear it.

springs on his feet

My Dusty has all the same boxer traits except he doesn't jackhammer. When I come back from somewhere I haven't taken him with me he crow hops about 5' in the air. He also rubs on me and my daughter like a cat. He goes back and forth between us like hands just aren't enough. He loves when I tell him good morning he gets all wiggley. He only woowoos for my daughter, his partner in crime. Dusty talks with his eyes.He wil come and sit in front of me till I pay attention to him, then he looks at what he's wanting, then looks back at me. When he gets an answer that isn't what he wanted to hear, he grins at me.Boxers have a funny grin and he does it to be charming to sway the no to a yes. Sometimes it works. LoL. He also loves to look at himself in the mirror, or to catch me looking at him in the mirror, He is such a ham.Loves his pic taken too. He also knew to act different around a close friend who had a stroke. It is uncanny how gentel he is with her. During her recovery Dusty was a huge motivator. He still his to this day. They have a special & unique bond. Oh and best of all ............. no gas!

traits of a boxer

Anpu, our boxer/ridgeback mix is a shugga pie, big beautiful eyes, VERY friendly and wants to be in on EVERYTHING! He even wants to be in on my husband and my's romantic date night! he also howls at everyone coming near the house (although once they get to the house he becomes scooby doo and is as friendly as they come!).

he also lays on his back and also does the frog thing on his stomache. This is the sweetest, freindliest dog I've ever had!

Roxy seems to have EVERY trait!

Well, after being a dog lover my whole life, I really knew nothing about this breed. We adopted our little girl in Feb and have fallen head over heels in love with this funny dog! She has every trait that I have read about on this site.....Love the kidney beaning, snoring,woo-wooing,jackhammering and zip, zipping around like a crazy dog! The giant sigh when she is (finally) tired and last but surely not least the GAS! Her adorable face when her lip gets stuck on her teeth and the way she loves us it seems as much as we love her! My other furry child is a 4yr old Tibetan Terrier and he loves the 'baby' also. She is 5mos old now and weighs in at a healthy 40lbs (our vet warned us she was going to be a large female). Roxy is fawn with the normal white markings. Wish I would have discovered this breed years ago they are sooo special!
Love reading about all of your 'babies'....
