Boxer Traits

Lily's Habits

Lily makes a sound like Chewbacca (sp?) and cracks us up
Won't allow our other dog (Heinz 57) to get near me.
Likes to be under the covers right next to my legs.
Sometimes sleeps with her long legs straight up in the air.
She stretches in her sleep and kicks whoever she's next to.
She would rather not go outside in bad or cold weather.
She really likes laying on something soft, NOT the floor.
She's not allowed in bed, but as soon as my husband gets up, she jumps up and gets under the covers.

She's different in some ways.
She's much smaller than most females, only weighing 33 pounds at 1 year old. Her breeder thinks she was a twin.
She doesn't slobber at all.

When I got Lily, I thought I knew something about Boxers, but I realize now how clueless I was. Each day I love and respect them a little more.

My boxer Luke has almost all of those traits. Its quite funny when he zips around the back yard, however sometimes he will get going really fast and forget to stop, he has done this to me many times, and just as I am about to move he plows into me, and we both fall over eachother, then all of a sudden he is right in my face trying to say he is sorry, its pretty cute after the fact. One other thing he does alot is if he wants my attention he will sit next to me and if I am at his level, he will smack me in the face with his paw because I am ignoring him I guess, its quite a shock when it happens. He does snore alot and he barks in his sleep alot too. He will also let me dress him up however I want, he will just sit there and stare at me and then when I go to take his picture he will pose an look at the camera, never had a dog like him before!!!

Kawi's Mommy

Boxer Pal
Kawi sits on her bottom with her legs stretched out and she looks just like a human sitting there on the couch. She also LOVES the fireplace. She sits right in front of it and just stares at it.:D

Siamas

Boxer Buddy
Seamus yawns and makes this big whining noise like when a human yawns! that big Awwwww noise! It is so funny! :o

He's also stubborn as they come, and loves to steal our spot on the couch if we need to get up for something, you can bet your bottom dollar that when you get back he'll be there all curled up. Must be the warmth from our butts sitting there too long.

He also stretches his back feet out and likes to push people off the couch.

And he's a huge sucker for peanut butter on his cookies!

:)

Boxer Booster
There are a couple other traits that Apollo has that I've noticed as he's getting older.

First, he'll take whatever toy he's playing with and with it around violently and then let go. Of course, the toy launches across the room and he trots over to it like he's so cool! It's pretty funny unless he throws it into something and knocks it over (like a can of pop last week).

Another trait that he has is he takes all of his toys and tries to shove them under the couch or the chair. He knows he can't get them out so he just sits and gives me the "puppy eyes" until I break down and dig them out. I have to do this at least 5 times a day!

Finally, he loves to empty his kennel. When we are getting ready for work in the morning, he'll go into his kennel and pull out the taz pillow, and all three blankets or sheets and drag them into the living room. I would imagine its because he doesn't want to go in there for the day!!!

Explains alot

My husband & I just recently purchased a boxer mix. She is 6 months old and definitly exhibits many of the traits I have seen listed.

Some of her traits:

*Zipping around the yard or the house untils she runs smack into mommy. I haven't fallen over yet but its been close.
*Giving me those sad eyes that make me feel quilty...even when she's in the wrong
*Grapping everything she can from the counter...especially kitchen towels:) I refer to her as "The Thief" nothing is of limits
*Laying her head on the arm of the couch.
*Favorite place to nap...right behind your knees if your laying on the couch. Its so cute!!!
*Boxing at you with her front paws
*She is definitly my shadow wherever I go she goes.

Wouldn't trade her in for anything, as much as she can fustrate me she definitly adds spice to our life.

Can't wait to take her out to get the family Christmas tree

:D :)

While our two clowns have many or most of the traits listed in the previous 45 pages, I have to add my favorite...the unique ability to listen intently when you need someone to talk to.

We've probably saved a fortune in "shrink" bills by being able to talk to both Buster or Lacey in such a way that they seem to understand exactly what it is you're saying. They look at you with those big brown eyes and you know they can see into your very soul...

Lacey tends to be impatient and seems to hang on your every word hoping to hear something happy so that she can be her wacky self. Buster, on the other hand, is all business and, if we've got a problem that we want to get off our chests, he's the guy we go to. We always feel that they understand and come away from these little chats feeling better off.

Boxer Insane
kidney bean

The trait Boxers have of bending their whole body when they are really excited. When their butt nearly whacks their head, they resemble a "kidney bean" when viewed from the top.

"Kidney beaning" was a puzzle to me also when I first heard the term used. Makes me wonder why a more descriptive name for the trait wasn't coined. I mean..."butt wiggler" gets right to the heart of things. You know immediately what a boxer is doing when you hear that.

How about "butt bending" (bending one's butt around to one's head) or something else that depicts an immediate image of what's going on? Surely there has to be something better than an image of a bean. What's with that???
