kidney beaning

This must be the most asked question in the forum!
What is kidney beaning? Its when your boxer is happy to see you and their but almost touches there head (sideways) and they still manage to walk and wag their tails/nubs ninety miles a minute at the same time-roughly the shape of a kidney bean.:p

All sorts of things.

Enzo used to fish throught the litter box, this is subsuquently how he learned the word "NO". We would say "NO" and give him a firm but not hard swat on the butt. We couldn't keep him out of the thing... then after that came the cats food he wouldn't leave alone... he learned after a week or so. Every now and again I re-affrm the training his nose might be a little close and I will ask him in a firm tone (while pointing at the litter box) whats that?? his tail will go down and he will start looking all shifty then walk away from it.
Now on the subject of kidney beaning.... ever seen it done while your boxer is going down the stairs??? One of these days I swear he is going to loose his footing and roll like a sack of potatoes the rest of the way!!!

fernanernie, you hit it right on the nose, I've been trying to figure a way to explain that "shifty" look they get when they really really want to do something, but know they shouldn't!
Tobie has really been giving me the evil eye lately, seems he always wants to stay outside sniffing the fall air just a little longer then I want to, and when I say inthehouse, he turns and gives me that "boxer eye". Its so funny!!
Tobie kidney beans down the stairs, and you do wonder if they will miss a step!

My Harley is the same way! He just came back from 3 weeks in PA with this WONDERFUL woman who works with stubborn dogs. Harley is now 40-some-odd pounds (he's 10 months old, but a runt if ever i saw one). and he will back his rear end up toward you when you're sitting ont he floor and sit on your lap. he may not be as big as he should be, but he is still 40 or so lbs of pure muscle. he also sleeps on my bed... or rather, sleeps on me while i sleep on the bed. i often times wake up and he has the whole bed and i have just one little corner.
Harley is a sweetie, but he is still having major puppy fits, where his ears are back and he snarls and growls and paws hard. he can take me down in a heartbest and i'm a little worried about his aggressive behaviour. does nyone know of any ways to calm him down a bit? he seems to get very aggressive and very out of control. we were hoping that the training program we sent him to would help, but this was one issues that was not reseolved in training. he is doing really well aside from the puppy fits (the woman did a wonderful job at getting him to obey commands and he sits very nicely - though slightly crooked).
I would appreciate any help anyone has to offer. i've had him for 8 months or so and i'm a little afraid i won't be able to calm him down. HEEEELP

Your boxer is only 10 months old still a puppy. Boxers calm down after they have grown out of that puppy phase. My boxer is 4 years old and just about a year ago he just started to calm down he is getting to be a loveable dog and not as wild as he was a few years ago. Also getting them fixed helps.

Southpaw is a year old now and I sometimes think she'll always act like a puppy!!! Usually when she gets so happy that she's out of control, we make her sit and only then does she get our attention and love. If we've been gone most of the day on a weekend sometimes we actually have to kneel down next to her and talk to her softly so she'll calm down. If we let her get too crazy she has the power to knock me down too or bruise my legs. She goes nuts sometimes, but that's when we see her kidney beaning at her best.

Boxerism

Enzo will be 4 this year, and shows no signs of calming down. Yes he isn't as FULL TILT as he used to be, but he still rips around the house and plays just like a puppy. It almost seems the world is new to him each day... I wish it was that easy for us humans...

Quinn turned 3 in August, and we go out and run every day, she has soo much energy, it's incredible. I hope she keeps that energy throughout so that she remains healthy!
Another thing I think is soooo cute:p when she does it is nudging me when I'm on the computer. she hates for me to sit in this chair, there is no room for her and I don't pay enough attention to her. She puts her nose under my elbow and tries to get me to pet her. It's funny.

i get "the nudge" too, that along with my socks being tugged off my feet. this leads to a rousing game of "come-chase-me-around-the-table" which ends with lots of hugs and kisses for the little kidney-beaning fool. :p he is so cute when he kidney beans!!!!

The one annoying thing Myah does is just stand there and bark bark bark at you. :mad: Forget it if your trying to watch TV, you can't hear it. What I do is fold my arms & turn my back on her, because she's doing it to get attention (playtime) and she stops but aargh, those sharp loud barks!! Also she was playing with a ball (one for dogs) with a squeeky thing in it .. she loves to jackhammer it (very very cute!), but it ended up that she ate a big piece of it.. including the squeek part.. so if you buy those things, monitior the play, cause when they lay down to chew on it, take it off them!
