Boxer Traits

It took me a while to figure out what Boxer Woo-Woo was, but my Shadow (female fawn w/socks, bib and, stars ~3yrs rescued just last month) definitely does it, especially when she tries to get me to let her play with her leash (95% of the time she's unsuccessful, but every once in a while I'm a sucker). She does the kidney-bean wiggle too -when my boyfriend met her he asked what was wrong that made her walk that way! And the boxer sigh -when she combines this with lying down and resting her chin on her paws and looking up, she's pretty darn irresistible. Sometimes when I'm gone and come back, she greets me by licking my face so hard that I have to hold my breath because I can't even breathe. Most of the time her manners are good, except when it comes to squirrels, and sometimes when she's in a stubborn mood --on the command "Sit," she lowers her butt 2" to show she's heard and doesn't sit all the way until she gets a stern look and/or words. I don't have to worry about her stealing food because she's so finicky that it was a real challenge to find out what she'd eat (even treats!).

And what about Boxer people traits! What a warm, caring group!

Max's Momma

Boxer Buddy
What about barking? Max who is 2 1/2 is normaly quiet unless he hears or sees something wants to protect. However, my 7 week old Abby barks at Max all the time. I though Boxers typicaly don't bark

foolicon How about the helicopter spin. A boxer will jump into the air and rotate 360 degrees and land facing the direction he was originally facing. Rocky did it all the time, and Indy (9 mos) is just beginning to do it.

The can do it while they are running, and manage to keep going, or may jump straight up while they are standing and spin like a helicopter rotor.

Great reading. I am getting my first boxer pup on friday and I can not wait. I was wondering if someone can explain what "Kidney beaning" is.

thanks

Funny you should refer to them as "Queens".. We call her our little "Princess". It's great to read how similar they are in their little ways. Stuff we couldn't put into words.. like the "Jackhammer", what a great word for it! And the "woo-woo", it's like she's talking to you! My Grandoggy, Myah will come up to you, stand there and just bark bark bark, in a high yippy tone. I was babysitting one weekend and it's a good thing my daughter told me that means she wants to play - it would be a little unnerving if you didn't know that..she will also poke her buddy the rotty with her paw to get him to play with her, and she won't let up until he does.. They are the clowns of the dog world.. you just have to love them - you sure can't stay mad at them for long, even when they rip up something - they look so so sad..:(

Hey there! Our boxer doesn't chase her tail (or lack thereof), but loves to chase flies. She's so wonderful. Just had puppies - problem with more than one daddy.:D

Stella01

Boxer Pal
Our Stella is 11 months old and is about 55 lbs. She has no idea that she is not 10 lbs any more. Stella will make sure not only to lay next to us but she will do her best to lay on top of us. She loves sitting on top of me and she acts like nothing is going on knowing that most likely I will have to push her because of her weight. I've been around many dogs but Stella is the only one that will in fact try to climb on top of me and get comfortable:D :)

lying on her back...crazy traits

Quinn angelicon, my 3 year old baby has the exact same traits that Cooper had, except, when she lays on her back, she sneezes, she doesn't seem to like it too well, so she doesn't do it often. She does like to lay on her tummy with her legs back straight behind her it is THE cutest thing to see! Another thing she does that is the cutest this, is when i get home, she speed races around me in the back yard making figure 8s around me and then kidney beaning like crazy!!!
She is my love! I don't know what i'd do without her!
