Unreal, it's like you all know Boxxy, he has all these traits, one I haven't seen yet is when he eats, he'll stick his head into his water to clean off his mouth, he then shakes and jumps and bounces, I must say, I always thought he was quite the character, another thing he does is we'll play ball, I throw the ball, he goes and gets it, then runs straight for me, and at the last second, he drops the ball, knocks me over and then he'll take the ball in his mouth and simply run, lay down and sit there with the ball between his legs as if to say, HA! see I win, ya gotta love'em:D

Boxer Insane
Wish I had time to read all the posts on this thread. Seems all boxers have much in common, as do their owners. We all obsess on these creatures. There is one trait that I haven't seen. Rocky used to go ballistic with orange peels. Whenever I peeled a Navel orange I'd throw a piece on the floor. Before throwing it on the floor I'd fold and twist it to release the oils in the skin.

Rocky would give it a sniff, wrinkle up his nose 'til his teeth showed, then go frantic barking and snarling at it while jackhammering away at it with his feet. Occassionally he would get it in his mouth only to toss it away and get more frantic in his actions.

He reacted the same way when my wife used nail polish remover or applied nail polish and he got a whiff of it. The fumes from the chemicals are probably dangerous. But an orange peel which evoked the same violent reactions should be harmless. I'm sure the oils in an orange peel must have been a mild irritant to his nasal passages. Not strong enough to fend him off however.

boxer habits

ok, my boxer baby has several habits.
some good others not.
She loves to play, sun herself laying on her back, and this dog loves to swim. we goto the beach all the time and I cant keep her out of the water. She even rides on my waverunner(ears up and all)She loves to sit on people. She will actually straddle your leg and pop a squat. Its crazy. Her babd habbits are of course GAS
and licking. The dog has a tongue that wont quit. She licks the air. Thats the only thing that annoys me a little but I still love her more than life itself

I can't believe how much boxers are alike. Our Josie who is 9 mos. exhibits almost every trait that's been mentioned. What's funny is we call it the "frog dog" too! They are crazy! foolicon

Vegas Baby

Vegas has been the first boxer in our family....and has been by far the wildest of any dog we've ever had....Wonderful but wild....
I do notice that she has "cheerleader"mentality where she jumps up and down barking for whichever of our other dogs is winning that particular wrestling match....it's a very funny thing to watch except when they choose to do it at 6 am....
Definitely have to agree with the others about gas, the kidney bean, etc...
The breeder I got Vegas from joked about a lady very upset and wondering if she'd received a "sick dog" cause it ran in a U....um, I guess she's a rookie boxer owner as well....ha ha

traits

Bailey has all the above traits, she cannot swim although she tries, does a wonderfull impression of a submarine.. Does love to ride in a boat though, tries to catch fish before you can get them of the hook, also likes to butt heads with our roping steers, I think she thinks they are just great big ugly dogs, likes to sleep and play with horses, and tries to get at they're oats before they do..I think the are few bricks short of a full load sometimes, especially when they are chasing ghost in the back yard. Can really lay on a major guilt trip, they pout worse than any teenager, this is our third Boxer, always said, they own you, you do not own them...You gotta love em!!!

Traits

I've read so many of the posts and discovered our Josie is a lot like everyone else's Boxer. She is very good inside the house, but she eats EVERYTHING when she's outside. Does anyone else have this problem? The other day she threw up in the front yard and it consisted of pieces of orange plastic bucket (from our daughter's sand box) and that black landscaping cloth stuff that keeps the weeds from growing. Not to mention all the other "nature" stuff. She's like a billy goat! :D

traits

Daisy6970: Boxers are basically a two year old in a dog suit, put something in front of them and they will eat it whether it is edible or not, Bailey ate five cactus' the first six months that we owned her, mostly out of spite because the only time was when we would leave her alone. When it comes to inanimate objects I think that they believe that object came to life and said EAT ME, boy do I taste good. They can be very spitefull, as well as loveable. They can make the average teenager look pretty tame in comparison...

billy goat for sure!

This is the truest thing, I can't agree with both of you enough! Just like 2 year olds, the minute you stop watching them is when they will eat something. With Rusty it was yarn, a baby diaper, those metal ashtrays from McDonalds, dryer fabric softner sheets from the trash can, fortunately everything came back up except the yarn, that I pulled out-yucky!!:(
Tobias has been much better, but I really don't let him out of my site unless he is on his runner. So far so good!! :p
I do call them both my little billy goats!
