Boxer Traits

Boxer Insane
My babies don't do the woooowooo?!?!?! I want to hear it. Gus does "back-talk" me, but I don't know if it's the same. I will tell him to sit, and if he is in a goofy/playful mood he will bark or make some other weird noise at me, like he is talking back, and then sits.

They both do the kidney beaning, cat like playing, and boxing each other. They love to slam each other on the floor when they are playing. They also look at me like they know what I am saying. They LOVE kids, especially Izzy. Izzy is very protective of me, and her cats. My one cat had a seizure, and Gus wanted to play with her during the seizure (he didn't know) and Izzy growled at him, and stood over top of the cat till I came to get her.

My boxers also love bubbles. They like when kids blow bubbles for them and they catch them in the air. Its so cute. They also get VERY excited when I get home. If I walk out the door to get the mail, they are excited when I come back in 30 seconds later!!!

Someone mentioned the tucking the butt under and running... I think people call the the "boxer burn". It's funny, Izzy does it, tucks her butt under, and runs in circles like crazy!!! It's like something is chasing her but I sure can't see it. I miss it, she hasn't been able to run since both her ACL surgeries. Gus doesn't do the exact same thing, but he does go crazy and start running all over the yard as fast as he can. I haven't seen him tuck his butt under yet, and he doesn't so circles, he just covers the whole yard in paths!!

Harley's traits

Benny is like that too! I always thought that he had aquaphobia! He especially hates bathtime and the garden hose when I water the flowers! Another Boxer trait? :P

Harley LOVES the water! He doesnt like baths and he doesnt seem to crazy about the rain, but he'll dive into a river, lake, or pond. Especially to chase ducks. Lol.

He's done the woowoo song a few times, and he boxes like crazy. He also runs in circles as fast as he can around and around and around. I call them "hot laps."

And he's SUCH a cuddlebug!

Oscar loves to box. His daddy taught him how to when he was young, and we bought him a punching bag.....which he beat the crap out of in 3 days. Tore that thing into shreds...as well as his daddy (bruises on a very sensitive place).

He loves to sleep between us, putting his arms around me, and letting some gas fly in daddy's direction.

I love this thread. Max is our first boxer. He's six months old and it's amazing how many of these traits he has. A lot of them I thought were just Max being Max.

Kindey Beaning (we call it wiggle butt)
tucking his butt in when he runs (that's my husband's favorite)
sighing (I really thought he'd gotten that one from me :) )
bad gas
and just being an all around cuddle bug. Especially when he's tired, he just wants to snuggle with his momma

The only time he's every wooooowooooo'd is when he was around my dad's boxer. Nellie wooo wooo'd him so Maxie didn't back.

Good subject...too much fun! My boxer boy, Monte, does all the above; he's very athletic when he races around (he enjoys sprinting very fast) and bounces off on all fours HIGH into the air. He's crazy nuts with excitement when I come home. Smart...enough to tease when playing. (he likes to play keep away with the ball rather than fetch even tho he will fetch the ball) He doesn't like to swim either (kinda sinks frailing around with his front paws) but LOVES to bite at spraying water playfully...did I mention he LOVES to PLAY and wants others to interact in his games. Even clowns around to get attention. Very adept with using their front paws. I had to change the french lever handle on my front door because he was very clever in opening the front door (this started since he was less than 8 mos. old) O, you have to rotate their toys, 'cause they get bored with the same ol' ones. Snorts and snores and kidney bean wiggles...gotta love 'em! ...and they're very good with other pets and children; Monte sleeps with my cat (it helped that he grew up with him). Best family dog ever!

Lance does so much of what everyone has said. He's now 6 months old.

Snoring (currently doing that as he lays next to me on the sofa)
Kidney beaning (aka "hi wiggles!)
Random tearing butt around the dog park, with butt tucked under and lips flapping of course
Total lap dog
Jumping up to lick your face
Total licker in general
Snorting/big sighs
Woo-wooing...I think he's the king of that when he's in his crate. It's quite dramatic.
Chasing his nubby tail
Counter surfer
He's got a mean right hook :)
And of course, farts that can clear a room.

Kissy's Mom

My 3 yr old does it all! Except gas! And has very 'dainty' farts unlike my last one, a big boy named Crunch who believed in letting them rip..especially when company comes. Miss Kissy, however woo-woos when her 'babies' go under the couch and she can't reach them..or when Mommie is eating sugar free cake and hasn't offered her any. (She hears the package open, flies with ears flapping around the kitchen island to beat me to the couch and sits prettily in pose...waiting with bubbles! Her kidney bean is coming along, the happier she gets at being rescued from 2 rescuses & off the streets as a baby. I have had her for 2 years now..and her 'kidney bean' IS definetly improving! And loves to see how fast she can FLY through the doggie door!
Would never trade in Boxer mousse flying on my coffe table for any other breed. After all, what other breed would fling it on your newly starched & bleach white blouse when you have NO time to get to work? So, you wear that slobber oh so proudly and dare anybody to comment! Right? Jann in CA

Akira is now 6 months old and except for two things he's also a real boxer :)
He doesn't fart (yet) and he is really lazy in the morning. I'm the one having to wake him up.

Woo-wooing whenever he hears something in the garden
Kidney Beaning
Chasing his tail and while doing so bumping into everything that's in the way
He loves to jump while playing and when seeing other people
Thinks he's still a little pup while trying to climb on your lap.
Taking all the space in bed and snoring loudly
Can't leave him alone in the house or he'll redecorate the living room and kitchen

Welcome to Boxerworld :D

Ruben gives "flea bites" too  Clari sounds like a wonderful girl - looking forward to reading more about her. You did well to get through all these pages on this thread :)

Sharon

Sophie does the "flea bites" as well. We call them "niblets" here and it is hilarious.
She loves to play "blanket" with the kids. They will toss a throw over her and she will "niblet" at them thru the blanket. Sometimes she will stand up and box the blanket away as they toss it and then run at them with it. It can go on FOREVER and the kids end up rolling in laughter.

Another game that is a favorite to play is "Do you wanna take a bath?" Our three year old LOVES playing this with Soph. You ask her is she wants to take a bath and she goes in to a fit of woo woos.

She pretty much does all of the other burning, boxing, kidney beaning, tooting, etc that the rest of these babies are doing.

I love reading and re-reading this post, it always makes me go hunt down Sophie so I can give her hugs. :)

How funny!! Our boxer has these characteristics, minus the kidney beaning. She loves to cuddle, she puts her heavy chin on my head, sighs these big sighs after she's done playing or going to sleep, poots constantly, & snores so loud it wakes my up & I blame my fiance!
