Boxer Traits

Hi there, it's great to see so many people with so much love for their beautiful babes. We have been proud boxer lovers for 4 months, Bridget was 8 weeks whrn we got her and never have we had such a loving change in our lives :) Her traits are ditto for all of the above, plus she holds my clothes in her mouth and walks along side of me around the house.

All of the above - I think Boxers have to be the most affectionate of breeds. Its their face they have such a cute expression at all times. You can't beat the feeling of coming home and your baby giving you a proper cuddle. Oscar loves his cuddles and acts like a human. What is a pain is when he spits out his food he seems to swallow what he likes and disposes of what he doesn't want to consume, we find bits of biscuit, sultanas (fruit n fibre left over milk!), well all sorts all over our house in the most obscure places - Bless em aren't they fab!!

Bridget has just been speyed, last Friday, and she's back to her old self again now, full of beans and such a clown! She loves water, but always to have her feet on the bottom, loves the hose particularly if it's on full bore and against her chest, or her face, then she goes and finds a towel, there's always one hanging around the chairs, for the pool, and she dries her face meticulously, she isn't happy till her face is dry and then she comes back for more! If she goes in the pool or the ocean she drinks the water and always goes to the side to get out, The pool has been a worry cos she started doing belly flops in and then realizing she couldn't touch bottom, so she's not so sure. We've done lots of swimming "lessons" with her and like all little toddlers, she has to be supervised in the pool area! It's funny cos you think your dog is the only one that has these funny foibbles, but when you read the posts here, they are all quite normal!! It's amazing to talk to people with the "same boxers" from across the world.
Great to chat with THE boxer world!
 :D

My Girl Milla

I find it to be so cool that there are so many others that get to know what a Boxer truly means as a companion. To see others write about their kidney-bean dancin, rabbit hoppin, jack-hammer stompin pups make me a proud Human to my Milla (mee-ya). I have had Milla since she was 7 weeks old. She will be 4 on July 28, 2002 and she still acts like a puppy! As far as the gas issue, I have always fed her lamb & rice flavored dry food. As a result, I rarely experience the eye-watering pain that Boxers are famous for. She does the 'Woowoo' song, especially when the oven timer goes off. She will NOT bark unless I get her fired up. There should be no question as to what the best dogs in the world are. The answer is Boxers!

Hey,

You guys all forgot about laying on their back and letting their liver hang (short for liver lips). My mom's guy looks like a bat, laying upside down.

Traits

As I sit and read the post I am laughing, and crying. Our Millie dog came to us when my father-in-law passed away and none of the family wanted her OH WHAT they have missed.. Boxer playing ,slobers, snoring,GAS!!!!.but above all so much love it is hard to comprehend how so much love can be packed into such a small frame.Millie is now 12 years old she is diagnosed with two tumors that will take her from us but still she gives LOVE every day without reserve

Firstly, I hope I post this correctly....newbie to this forum and newbie to owning a Boxer. My boyfriend has grown up with them, Maximus is his 4th or 5th!

I read alot of the messages from this thread, and even though we've only had our Max for two weeks, and he has shown some of the 'boxer traits'....it makes me look forward to all the experiences I'm sure we'll have with our 'new baby'.

And I love this site!!! It's already bookmarked on both my home computer AND work one! ;)

I am aslo a newbie boxer mommy. I got Tysen for christmas. (yes I asked for him). He is now almost 6 months. I find this sight great. It helps me to realize Tysen is mot the only one with all these traits. It is absolutly amazing that all these traits can carry through a breed.

Tysen is all of the above ----pawsalways touching you or slapping you or even grabbing your ankels when we are trying to walk, kisses like crazy, jumps, hops, snores, FARTS:eek: and everything else on this list.

Another one is the talking back--- you tell him NO! He looks away and back talks. You can't help but laugh!!:D

He is great.

our baby clio lies on her back alot. she sleeps on her back about 90% of the time. she also chases her tail, the cat, kids, me, flies, anything. she is very roudy. also a more unpleasant trait, very very gassy. but i would not trade her for anything.
