Boxer Traits

Jakey was an escape artist as well! We would come home and find him out of his crate, so we watched him one day as he knocked the cage with his shoulder and kept doing so until the latch popped! He also figured out the gate in the back yard, he would bump it with his head until he jostled the latch loose (granted, it was an old latch but still). Harley hasn't learned any escape tricks yet, but he is giving Jake a run for the money in the fart department!!

One of my favorite traits about boxers is that famous head tilit, when the tilt their head to the side and look at you like they haven't got a clue....so cute!

I feel like a fool, but here goes...Out of curiosity?? What is kidney beaning, when referring to boxers???? I've had boxers for years and never heard that term.....The only thing I could think of is when they get happy and bend their bodies into this curve..

I think my boxers have most, if not all these traits...Depends on what kidney beaning is.. (he he) including opening gates to the fences. Closing the kennel door when the other dog is laying inside with the door open..understands more human words then some ignorant people I've met... (if these dogs could only talk....)

Aren't boxers the best...
Oh I can't forget my schnoodle he's the best too!

You got Kidney Beaning spot on :) It's called that 'cause they resemble a kidney bean in shape when they twist like that.

I love it when my boxer baby squeaks his toy and then woo-growls in between the squeaks as though he's attempting to copy the toy. It's great!

Okay, enough!! I can't take any more!! I am reading these posts and laughing out loud. People are going to think I am nuts!! The thing is, I can see my babies doing the same exact things. My Josey, especially. She has kidney beaning down to a science and the laying on the back thing with all four legs in the air!! OMG What a hoot! She looks at us like, "You sure look funny up-side-down!!" Cracks us up!! She is also an avid tail chaser and man can she sass when you tell her no! Our baby, Archie is just 5 months old. He does the kidney bean and the tail chase, but hasn't gotten sassy yet. He does talk to his squeaky toys, though. When they squeak he whines at them like he is trying to talk to them.

And, oh yeah, the gas!!!

These are so funny!!!!
Chief does:
*Kidney Beaning
*Hopping like a bunny when he chases something.
*Sleeps with his tongue hanging out of his mouth.
*Louuuuuuud snoring.
*Horribly loud and smelly gas. (and he looks at you like he thought it was you).
*Jumping straight up and down.
*Snarfing.
* Juking and growling at our lab.
* Sleeping with all four legs in the air.
* burping.
* Wagging his tail so hard; he wags his whole behind.
* Carrying his water dish to you to let you know he needs more water.
* Plays soccer with everything he finds on the floor.
* Cries everytime he sees a cat.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
They're great aren't they?

Ali does all of the above. She also likes to drink from a water bottle like a human. It is so funny. Sitting so pretty and then burping without even a flinch. I like to call her my Snow Queen. She just loves jumping into high banks of snow and getting covered. Jumping like a deer through the woods. She is so silly but that's what make her so special.

Our boxer Kona has many of the common traits that have been discussed so far. But the ones that stand out the most to us are:

- Curiosity or nosiness, he's always interested i whats going on
- Jumping up and down like a pogo stick
- running around in circles in the back yard for no apparent reasons
- snoring

Re: common traits

I think boxers have a language of snorting and blowing that has meaning to each other. I never really noticed it when we just had one but I do now that we have 3. Anyone have a comment on this trait. My other boxer Stoney is the master of sighing.

Kay

I think that Bruno expresses affirmation (YES!) by blowing out through his mouth (Mfff) the lips of course flap but it's subtle and when I pointed it out to my wife, she concurred. Any others? it usually comes in response to a question such as "Did you eat it all up?" IT never follows chastisement or reprimand or any negative energy but only as agreement or affirmation. I've only read part of this thread and perhaps there's more info later.
