Biscuit was attacked

I just got back from the vets. This morning when i took Biscuit out for our morning ride she was attacked by our neighbors chow. The owner of the dog was outside but wouldn't help me get her dog off Biscuit. She was afraid her dog would bite her by accident so she just stood there and watched while i tried to hold my horse and break up the dogs. I finally got Max off Biscuit and she was bleeding very badly. The owner of the chow didn't even offer to help me get the horse or the dog back home and seemed to think it was my fault for riding past their house. Biscuit was not on their property and their dog came lunging after her unprovoked. I am so angry right now I could scream! Max's owner actually had the nerve to yell at me for hitting him with my crop because after i got him off of her he came after me and her agian. I have seen dogs fight before but this was different i believe if i hadn't got him off of her he would have killed her. She had to have 57 stiches and he missed her jugular by a half inch the vet said she is very lucky to be alive and they are keeping her overnight because she is still shocky. The thing that makes me even madder is she was on a lead also, as i always keep her tied to the horse when we ride so she doesn't run off. We live on a dead end dirt road and have to pass their house to get to the trails I ride on. What i want your opinion on is should i call the dog warden? After talking to another neighbor who saw what happened and came to offer to take Biscuit back to my house and take care of the horse i learnd that this dog has attacked several other dogs and bit my neighbors cousin. What should I do? I love all animals and could never imagine wanting to harm one but i could just kill this dog and even more so the owner for being so inconsiderate.

sorry to hear about Biscuit! I would call the warden for sure since this dog has attacked before, the next time, there could be a death. Its too bad the owner wasn't helpful or caring. I dont understand some people!

It is so unfortunate that a person who is scared of their OWN dog even has a dog to begin with!

Call the dog warden ASAP and I would consider a law suit to recover the expense of treating poor Biscuit.

Next time this dog attacks it could be a small child!

I would definitely report this dog. A situation like that happened to our neighbor. She was walking her dog in an open field behind another neighbor's house (again not their property). Their Grandfather opened the back gate to come out and their two GS dogs charged by him and attacked her retriever. She reported the dogs to the Human Society for the attack and her dogs were quarantined for several days. People like that do should not have animals they can not control!

Definitely report the dog. You will feel guilty if something else happens becuae of that dog. Then teach Biscuit to make her messes on that idiot owner's property.

I am sooo sorry to hear about Biscuit. I hope she is doing all right. There are some irresponsible people in this world. I certainly would hate to see this dog destroyed due to her owner's being irresponsible. However, she needs to be kept on a leash or behind a fence. I would definately sue to recover expenses, pain and suffering, etc. Sometimes, through the pocketbook is the only way to get people's attention. Let us know how Biscuit is when she gets home.

Sorry to hear about Biscuit's attack (my cat's name is Biscuit!!). If I were you, I would try the above. If that doesn't work. Make a big, big sign and post it in front of her house (but just slightly off her property) reading "BEWARE OF DOG. OWNER IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND DOG HAS ATTACKED MANY PASSERS BY" Or something to that effect. You get my point. Is that legal?

Good luck to you. Hope Biscuit pulls through in top notch shape.

OMG! I am sorry to hear what happened!
Please report this dog, your dog came so close to being gone! It's not fair! That chow will surely do it again! And that owner, how rude! I cannot imagine being frightened of your own dog, If Debo ever attacks anyone (ha - he's a scardy poop) BUT if he did! I would surely jump in with my whole body and I would DARE him to bite me!

I hope this resolves with that owner being more responsible and possibly that dog being taken away. Don't get me wrong, I love animals, but I despise owners with dogs they cannot control and refuse to do something about it!

I'm sorry for venting out loud, but that just made me soooo angry that you had to go through that! Please think about it and call!

:( :( :( This is just terrible. Poor Biscuit. I'm sure this was terrible for both of you. I agree with the majority...call the dog warden and then try to get your expenses covered through an attorney if necessary. Keep us posted. :(

Call the warden now, don't waste any time, I am sorry to hear about Biscuit, I hope she is doing well.

Here is how i look at it. What if i had a child and we(as is me and my kid) were walking my dog, and that dog attacked both my kid and dog, and my child got hurt, You are damn straight that i would be calling the warden, and my next step would to sue the owner of that Chow for medical expenses.

I am sorry if this sounds cruel, but it had already happended to me and Bandit, Thank-God the owner of the mutt, grabbed the dog, he appologized to me to no end and made sure that we were both ok,he gave me his insurance numbers and everything. Luckily Bandit and i were ok.

Jess, please dont wait on this, I would be terrible if it were to happen again, with extreme consiquenses(sp)
