Kevin's main household duty is to break down the cardboard boxes that 12 packs of soda and beer come in. Ha, he gets excited when he sees me bring a new one in, and waits just outside of the kitchen for me to finish emptying the contents into the fridge and toss the box his way. And then it's about 15 minutes of crashing, tearing, and rolling around before he has flattened the box and it is ready for the trash.

What a green dog! Helping with the recycling! LOL My dogs run away when I have to flatten boxes. Sure would save me time and energy if they found them as interesting as yours does!

I love this idea. Joey LOVES empty coke/water bottles but has gotten bored with them.....now he will have a "new toy" all over agian.

Lucy loves the liter plastic bottles.....but really enjoys an old rubber bumper ,used to keep a boat from banging the dock. You can tie a big rope on one end an have durable tugging toy.

If you have one of those exercise balls (the kind you fill with air) Tyson LOVES playing with it outside. He will jump over it, jump and roll over top of it. He plays with it for an hour or more.

I made a toy 3 years ago when Lily was a puppy. She still plays with it today. I took an old pair of sweats and cut the cuff off about 3 inches wide, leaving it in a loop. Then I cut strips the whole way up the leg, again in loops. I then took the strips and loop-knotted then onto the large loop. There was 25 to 30 strips all the way around the large loop. At the ends of the strips, i just knotted the tips to give a bit of something to hold on to. It lasted til now, not a bit torn, but loops are stretched. It's a tug toy, a chew toy, a shaking toy, a toy they both seem to fight over and run away with. Plus, it's fun to put it on the neck of one and watch the other tug them around by their "collar". LOL When it gets slobbered and dirty, in the laundry it goes. They love this toy out of all the store bought ones.

Diesel loves pop bottles but will go thru them in no time, about 5 min flat. We've upgraded to gatorade bottles. Those last much longer, he's been about a week on this last one. Try that instead of a pop bottle, i use the small size.

One of ABBYs favorite homemade toys is an old tube sock with with small rubber ball that I tied into it. She'll toss it around and attack it when lands, carry it around playing keep away, and we've played countless tug-o-war games with it . I've had to replace it several times, but I have plenty of old socks. With the plastic bottles though, as soon as she's able to chew and get the top off one, it's like "Hah!, Is that all there is to it." and gets up and walks away from it. One time I used Elmers Glue and glued the top back on one, she just gnawed on it until she tore the plastic in two. Then brought part with the lid on it and dropped on the floor. She was so proud of herself.

Indy's mom

Boxer Insane
Indy has always loved empty bottles too. We have the same issue mentioned by others, he puts his attention on the cap and quickly chews it off. Cap is then taken away and he usually looses interest soon after. Silly boy. Still they're fun while it lasts and the noise is quiet enough not to make me crazy, crinkly enough to be fun for him.
