Boxer Insane
DH called me at lunchtime today to vent. Apparently, somebody he works with posted a notice on the bulletin board for Boxer Puppies For Sale. He has a male and female who just had a litter at Christmas. I never met him but DH says he LOVES his dogs and they are well looked after. Anyway, a woman was looking at the add and became very excited as she has apparently wanted a Boxer for a long time. So another woman stops and tells her.."Don't waste your time reading that..their just pitt bulls with different names! They are terrible with kids and will turn on you when you sleep!" :eek: DH overhears this and had to step in to defend the breed. He tells RIL (rude icky lady) that she obviously has no idea what the breed is about and should therfore keep her uneducated advise to herself. He asked the woman who was interested that if there was anything she needed to know about the breed he would be happy to help as much as he could. He told her about Xena and our new baby Spirit (on his way), and that in his opinion Boxers have so far been the best breed we have EVER owned for temperment reasons, obedience, loyalty, and just their sheer beauty! He told her to come over sometime to see for herself! Nothing like seeing to believe!
So then RIL pipes up and calls DH an idiot who loves a breed that are bred to kill, and because of him and people like him, children are being killed!:rolleyes: Good grief...RIL just fell off a turnip truck!! DH asked her if her brain hurts from being forced to preach that garbage, and then told her to stop polluting the air and get a muzzle for herself!:p
This is a small town and there seems to be more Boxers everywhere I look! I am seriously considering writing the local newspaper. I think a small editorial about the breed and how it is often confused and accused of being what they are not! Education goes along way, and if we can just get one more person to listen and understand, than we have helped a little.
Sadly, the majority of the small population here would LOVE to see a ban on pitt bulls and large "bully" breeds!:( Makes me soooo angry!

The only thing I can agree with is "they turn on you when you sleep" - Fritzi does turn her little head (elevated) onto my feet while we both are sleeping, so she can breathe more freely :D Don't ya just want to scream at these types of people!!! In my life, I have never heard of any boxer who killed a human being - let alone a child. Even when people are rotten to them, these poor boxers come back with kisses and butt wiggles...all of the rescue boxers I've transported have been so loving, even after their families dumped them for different reasons - I've never had to crate one on a transport...I doubt there's any hope for a person so ignorant, so you DH must just ignore her - she's hopeless...
