a..that's what I have often wondered myself...how can they compare? Well, pitts have longer muzzles compared to our squish faces! The only thing I find similar is the color sometimes..fawn/flashy/brindle. A pit has a long tail while most boxers tails are cropped. Their sizes are even different although they share a similarity is shape...sometimes! People just get freaked out I guess at the sight of a Boxer because they can look intimidating. I was raised to ask questions when I don't understand. I wish others would too!

RIL REALLY doesn't know what's she's talking about. The true IDIOT here is actually the RIL when she opened her mouth without knowing what she was talking about. IMHO - people like that shouldn't be allowed to breed.

Whenever I run into these ignorant people I tell them a story on how I came to know the boxer breed. I work with a woman who has raised Seeing Eye Lab puppies for 25 years and I love her dogs but I am so allergic to Labs. She informed me that the Seeing Eye uses Boxers for blind people with allergies. They use Boxers for their intelligence, wonderful disposition and loyalty. Many people are not aware of this and it usually shuts them right up--especially when they say Boxers are stupid

The depth and breadth of peoples' ignorance is unbelieveable...
Obviously, RIL knows nothing about Boxers. Like the others have said, the only danger from them at night is being gassed in your sleep and pushed out of bed.
I don't think most people could accurately pick a pitbull out of a police lineup. But they think they must have HUGE mouths because they are known for their vicious bites. So, our sweet babies with the big mouths get mistakenly identified as "killers." :rolleyes:
Congrats to your hubby for setting RIL straight. But I'll bet she still thinks she is right...
Maybe hubby could copy the AKC breed description of the Boxer and post it up on the BB to help educate RIL - and others.

Perhaps RIL isn't really a "person" at all...could she be one of those dreaded POD PEOPLE!!
If only she could see how my five year old will run up to any boxer and hug & kiss on it. People like that will never change their opinions, but I do hope your husbands quick wit will make her think before she jumps on her soapbox and starts her preaching! Maybe it is time for his office to get redecorated...a lovely boxer calender, some choice boxer pictures! Never say never, you may convert RIL yet! Oh well, less for her & more for me!

Anyway, the ignorance that some people display astounds me on a daily basis! I've had people make similar comments to me about Roxy who is the sweetest dog ever. That's okay-those kind of people will never know what joy it is to be owned by a boxer-and don't deserve to!

Layla's Mom: Some time ago I was reading an article about how seeing eye dogs got their start, and it mentioned that when the programs were first being set up boxers were the preffered breed!
What a twit! RIL needs to get an education before she opens her mouth. At least Dh was there to step in before she polluted someone else's brain with that crap.
I can't count the number of times people have come up to me and asked if Frau was a pit bull. I don't get it, they don't look like pit's to me. Maybe I'm just dense.
