Completely Boxer Crazy
I'm north of Pittsburgh, and I think you are right about you having it worse out east. We never really had a problem with them over here until the last few years. I used to take Toby hiking almost every single day in summer at Moraine State park and he never EVER got a tick there. A week or two ago I tried to take Gus on the same trail I always took Toby on and within 20 minutes (we didn't even get 1/2 mile before I saw ticks on him and turned around) he was COVERED and I picked probably 30 crawling ones off him when we got back to the parking lot. I also had 4-5 crawling up my own legs too. *shudder* We won't be going back there anytime soon!
They give me the heebie jeebies too, ever since I was trucking with Toby and a few hours after leaving a truck stop where I had walked him I found one embedded behind my knee. I stopped the truck and woke up the co-driver and made her get it out RIGHT NOW. Then I went to the dr. and made him give me a lyme test even though there was almost zero chance of me having it. haha. I'm a little more laid back these days, I've found others on me since then but if I'd had one in my EAR I think I'd be a little more freaked by them! You poor thing!!

. I can handle creepy crawlies- but ticks and thousand leggers are on a whoooole difference level. Ick!
