anybody live in thier hometown

I just read a book firefly lane by Kristin Hannah it was wonderful,it made me think of how happy i was as alittle girl and all the things me and my childhood friend did until i moved when i was 12 ,i lived in a small town in Wisconsin and i only live about 20 miles away but i never go thier i think i need to go back and reconect has anyone else ever went back and if so how did it go...

I grew up in a small town. Then my Mom remarried and we moved "into the city" LOL, it's only about 7 miles away. I did make it back when I went to a private school I admired as a little girl. It was wonderful to be back and still young enough to enjoy the memories and make some new ones. Now I get back about once a year for Alumni Day and it still warms my heart to be there.

I grew up in a very small town. There were 42 in my graduating class. I now live in a bigger town (only about 20,000) about 9 miles from where I grew up. I was actually born in a large city though (Oklahoma City) and lived there until third grade until we moved to Kansas. It's amazing when you travel across the country to California or New York, people actually ask if we use covered wagons! I tell them ours is broke so we use a car, and we actually have electricity and indoor plumbing! I guess they think we do not progress in the plains states.

I grew up in a very small town (not even one stoplight) outside of Jackson, TN. I HATED it at the time because we had to drive 30 minutes to get to school every day, go to the grocery store, etc. It was terrible as a teenager because I didn't get to go out like all my friends did until I could drive myself. I moved about 2.5 hours away for college and eventually settled about 1.5 hours away in Memphis, TN where I have other family. I still visit my parents ocassionally but I am a city girl at heart. I do love riding 4-wheelers, camping, going barefoot, etc. but I love the convenience living in a city offers. I like to go back to my roots and although I could see myself living in the city of Jackson (it has grown A LOT) I don't see myself ever living as far out in the country as my parents do

I grew up in Toledo. After my dad died and my mom remarried we moved to a much smaller town. I hated it! To me it was just a hick town and I always said that as soon as I graduated I was moving back to the big city. My how things changed. Once I got married and we could afford a home we moved as far out in the country as we could. I love the quiet and that my neighbors are friendly enough to say hi and watch out for each other but don't know our business. I can't imagine ever living in a city (even the smallest one) ever again. We do sometimes drive past our old house and visit old neighbors to talk about the "good ole days" but I would never go back.

I was almost 11 when we came to Canada from England. The town we lived in was small (about 5000 people) and that includes surrounding areas . We moved to Cambridge (not a huge place, but wayyyy bigger than what we were used to) when my oldest kids were 4 and 1, but moved back within a year. We just couldn't handle the big city, . Now my kids are growing up, they are 23, 20, and 17 now, and I just couldn't imagine living anywhere else. The great thing is every body knows everybody and their business, the only bad thing is everybody knows everybody and their business, .

I'm lucky to say that I still live in my home town. My parents moved from Montreal to our town of about 40,000pop. 2 days before I was born. It's a nice small enough town that is close enough to the city. When I was little, I always said I wanted to live in the city when I was older. But when it came time to buy my house, I stayed in my home town and couldn't imagine it any other way...

Isn't it funny that those of us who grew up in very small towns always said we would live in the city??? My how our views change as we get older! I can't imagine living in a fast paced city where you can't watch the fireflies and hear the crickets at night (no offense to those who do live in the city, as I'm sure they can't imagine living in a town with nothing to do!) There is nothing better than sitting out on my deck with a drink, a book, watching the water and listening to the owls as the sun sets into magnificiant colors. To me, that is what life is about.

I grew up in a large city in southern California and also even lived in San Fransisco during my junior and senior years in high school. It was all I had ever known so I liked it. I moved to Tennessee 15 years ago and live in a small town now. I have to drive about 20 min to get to town, work, grocery stores, etc. And if I want to go shopping at a mall or any kind of good department store I have to drive about 40-45 min to the nearest "big" city wich is Jackson Tn. So it not to bad. I dont think I could ever live in the "city" or for sure not a big city again. I love listening to the birds, frogs and bugs during the summer nights.

That's exactly it! I couldn't imagine driving around for 5 minutes have to find a parking spot, especially in the winter, when the parking spots are piles of snow! Or having to keep Stella on a leash all the time no yard to run in. My house is on the other side of town, compared to where I grew up at my parents. And it's more like the country here. Tons of fireflies, crickets, bunnie, chimpmunks, racoons, squirrels, and deer! I wouldn't have it any other way now!
