Well, I live in Vegas, it is a good place to live after you learn to stay out of the casinos Metro is ALWAYS hiring, I also believe that the Academy is amoung the toughest around to get through, and with this place bringing some of the lowest common denominators of the human race together it is a HIGH risk job (I know being a cop is a high risk anywhere, but moreso here than say Little Rock) I listen to a police scanner every night, I have all districts programmed in, but I gotta say of all the places I have ever lived, this is the noisiest that scanner has ever been! The place is growing like gangbusters! I am hoping to make quite a nice profit off me house if/when I move out of LV. The weather here, well it is AWESOME!!! But as I am sure you know, it gets HOT, HOT in the summer.. There are tons of places to go 4 wheeling in the Jeepster!!! As far as healthcare jobs, they are plentiful here!! BUT alot of healthcare workers are leaving the state in search of something better, too long hours, not enough $$ for the stress (But I have friends that are in health care and they tell me that that is normal and happening all over the country... And when you miss the snow, it is only about 45 minutes away on the mountain! Tons of desert to explore, close to California and the ocean, loads of things to do here!!! Once you settle in and become a "local" it really is just like anywhere else!!!! But with lots of lights!!!! And maybe someday a pro Baseball team!! I gotta say that when you mix the good and bad, Vegas is a nice place to live!!

Thanks for the help. I know southeast it rains a lot but seams eastern n.c. has an abundance of it. The usual summer it rains a lot. At least where I am at it seams to. I dont mind the rain every now and then but would rather be somewhere where its more sun then rain for a change. I have thought about the southwest but the wife doesnt seam to want to move there. We looked at Vegas and that would be good for us because I have a SIL there so once we have kids she can help babysit when we need it but she is sceptical about moving there plus the houses are kind of expensive from the searches I have done on the internet. I know there are probably some good deals but we will have to look around if that is what we decide to do. I also looked at Phoenix Az. I like it out there but don't think she wants to be that far away. So I think as of our conversation last night we might look at Tampa Fl. good pay and the houses aren't to bad. She has lots of job opportunities though but I would love to talk her into Vegas that place has always intrigued me. I have been there twice and loved it both times. I guess we will just have to see how things go. Thanks for all the help.

Well I live in North Carolina, my wife likes the city also, but the location we are at now she is 15-20 minutes from 4 cities filled with all the malls a woman could dream of, yet my backyard is filled with mountains and my dogs are allowed to run and play all they need to. She gets her mall addiction solved and me, well I enjoy sitting on the back porch and enjoy watching mother nature do her job... Maybe you need to relocate somewhere esle within the state, North Carolina ain't all that bad is it...

Not all of N.C is bad, we have thought about Charlotte. I have been there once it was pretty nice. Lot of things to do but I am trying to find somewhere different, I really want to move to Fl. or Vegas but its going to be up to job opportunties i guess.

Dallas has sprawling suburbs with lots of malls. There is more rain than Arizona, but less than the SE. Winters are usually mild. There is no state income tax. Smaller Texas cities worth considering are Corpus Christie, Lubbock, Amarillo, Midland, and El Paso. Lubbock, Amarillo, El Paso, and Midland are very dry and should be more Jeep and motorcycle friendly. The Dallas area has 3 or 4 off leash dog parks. Most of them are on the North side of Dallas. If you are considering any of these, I travel to most of these cities frequently and might could go into more detail. Little Rock is pretty, but I am not sure how much rain they get. Tulsa, OK is also nice, but I don't know about dog parks there. Ask Tulsa Dan about that. All of the above offer a good cost of living value.

Dallas was another place we were thinking about doing research. I have heard it was a good place to live. My sister has friends there and she visits them every once in a while and said it was nice there. It would be nice to have parks around where I could let the kids run free. Definitly somewhere I would like to look at.

I moved from NJ to Upstate SC and I absolutely love it here, for the same reasons wayneo loves his part of NC. It's not too country, but it hasn't been really citified here. When I first moved here and they told me that Greenville was the city, I almost died laughing. But now it's just perfect. My husband grew up here and of course, he's dying to leave, but I'm just soo happy where we are at, I don't want to. I mean to just be able to drive around and see all the mountains, I love it. Only drawback is that i've totally lost my northern accent and now have a slight southern drawl. Which my friends up north never fail to mention

Well i am not sure that i will be able to help you out much , but I will tell you what I know. I live in Russellville, which is about 70 miles from Little Rock. ( It is about half way between LR and Fort Smith). If I want to go to the Mall - ours is very small so i drive to either of these cities. Little Rock has 3 different malls and several plazas to shop at. I don't know much about the police dept, but I am sure that they stay pretty busy.

As for the weather, well as we say here in Arkansas if you don't like it today stick around because it will change tomorrow! Our weather has been very unpredictable lately. It will snow one week and be 60 degrees the next. Which we really don't get that much snow and if we do it is like 6 inches if that. But I also have a jeep and there are plenty of days you can have the top off( just be sure you have a soft top or a bikini top so that if a little shower does come through you can pull it up!

As far as getting the motorcycle. We have a road ( Scenic Hwy 7) it has alot of switch backs on it. Motorcycles love to drive that road in the spring. It takes you to Harrison which is about 30 miles from Branson , MO. which is a good place to go shopping too. There are alot of outlet malls there.

As for the parks I am not sure about them in Little Rock. I know there isn't any Boxer Bashes around here. But i wish that there were!

No dog parks here yet. But there are many places where people take their dogs; the lake (lots around here within a 15 min. drive), school yards, parks, etc. People manage fairly well.

I'm not sure what a PO makes here, but I know they are always hiring in the hospital/medical field. It is HUGE here. There is also the OKHP (highway patrol), as well as smaller PDs in outskirt communities (all about 20 min from downtown Tulsa), such as Bixby, Glenpool, Broken Arrow, etc.

The cost of living is pretty good here, if you can manage to get a job that pays well. (Teachers get crap here.) It is a lovely city, not a tremendous amount of rain except in Spring (when it is supposed to rain) and -- oh yes -- those pesky tornadoes!! But we get used to them and they don't hit Tulsa city limits very often. Usually the smaller outskirting communities and trailer parks.

I find real estate to be really inexpensive here. But, I come from NYC so anything seems cheap to me.
