Lots of positive and healing vibes going out for your baby Catfish. I'm so sorry he had to have the amputation, but if it saves his life, then it absolutely had to be done. I too have seen dogs with three legs, and heard lots of stories, and it doesn't appear to make a difference in their level of activity. Your boy is going to be back playing with his frisbee before you know it!! Keep us posted on how he's doing. Get well soon, Catfish!!

You guys are awesome -- all the positive feedback really helps when I start feeling down. He'd been limping for so long (at least if felt like a long time) that I also know he's going to be SOOO ready for the park. I can't wait to share the great stories that are sure to come!

My friend's grandson's dog just had his leg amputated. I lent them a crate to help with his recovery, but he never stays in it. He still wants to move around and is doing great. Praying and hoping the same for your Catfish.

Prayers and good vibes to Catfish. We lost our Rocky to bone cancer on his back leg but we opt not to amputate because we would have had to put him thru chemo. The vet said that they recover and go on with three legs and adjust wonderfully. Rocky lived for a year ( which the vet gave hime 6 to 8 weeks and he was on three legs the whole year because of the tumor. These boxers are amazing animals and their will to live makes them over come so many obsticles That we ourselves don't understand. I love the name Catfish...we use to call Rocky Catfish Lips....We as human think how we wold feel but our precious boxer don't care as long as they have us to love them. Hang in there and keep us updated. Rocky's cancer was called osteosarcoma..

I am so optimistic about his recovery at this point and your stories & prayers continue to uplift me. The surgeon called again this morning to say he was walking around in his kennal when she went to check on him and he looks like he's just ready to get going!
The inital diagnosis from the xrays was osteosarcoma, but our oncologist thinks it may actually be a different type of cancer. I'm hoping to know something by mid week once the bone has been studied, that way we can begin treatment as soon as possible.
Thanks again for all the support!

Hey there jl30221. I just wanted to let you know that you and Catfish are in our thoughts...and I'm glad to hear your baby is recovering nicely.

Second - since Catfish is a very cute unique name...and we live in the same city...do you know a guy named Kilmer? He has friends with a dog named Catfish and I think he said they live in my development...Teravista.

Just thought I'd ask. Either way I wish Catfish a speedy recovery!

I just caught this thread but glad to see some good news. That painful leg is out of the way now and things will be on the up and up from here on out. Catfish is a handsome man, he looks like this would be just a small bump in the road. Please keep us updated, hopefully soon they will know what type of cancer it is and be able to treat him for it. I am sure he will be glad to see you tomorrow.

Thanks again, everyone, for making my heart warm. Catfish came home today and, to be honest, it wasn't as shocking to see him as I thought it might be. The incision is giant and there is a lot of swelling, but all that will go away over the next couple of weeks. He's back to his old self, following me around each time I make a move, and I sure did miss that over the past couple of days while he was gone. I can tell his is 100% at peace to be home and without that terrible pain, so there's no stopping him now. I'll post some new pics soon, but want to wait until he's healed up a little to reduce the "yikes!" factor. ;0)
