I just met a lady who says that she does acupuncture to treat pancreatitis. I have posted my general questions about pancreatitis in the health forum. My main focus is learnign about different foods. But I am also investigating other options for treatment. I know ZERO about acupuncture for people or pets. Has anyone tried it? Does it work? I thought it was for stuff like arthritis and have never heard of using it to treat stomach ailments.

I don't know about acupunture with dogs. But i have tried it for myself. I have Multipe Sclerosis and lived with constant pain in my arms similiar to being hit on the funny bones all the time. And it worked wonders for me I could go 6 months without the pain. Now I can't imagine a pet sitting long enough to do it, but if you have a good acupuncurist they can work wonders. Good Luck

I've used acupuncture for allergies, infertility and am currently going for pregnancy related carpal tunnel and edema. It's been fantastic. I've been off allergy meds for 2 years and I'm positive it's how I got pregnant w/o medication. My sister has gone for digestive problems and she's been problem free for the past 4 or 5 months.

I don't know anyone who has used it with their dogs but I do have a friend that uses it for her horses and swears by it. My vet does myofascial release and I never thought my dogs would sit for that but they do. He's amazing with the dogs and I'm sure this woman would be the same. It really can't hurt to try. Good luck!

Mugsy has been getting acupuncture for over a year now for his neuromuscular issues. It took several sessions before we noticed a difference, but we did see improvement in his movement and stamina. I usually sit on the floor with him to keep him still, however it is rare for all of the needles to stay in place as long as they should (about 10 minutes).

My vet (holistic) does acupuncture and has had great success with it. I have never had any reason to try it on an animal though. I have had it for my fibromyalgia, but didn't notice any change or relief from pain.

We tried accupuncture on KOKO at age 10 yrs for her DM. No favorable results occurred but we had to at least give it a try. :)
