Dan,
I sense a sort of guilt on your part for what you perceive as not totally being there for your babies during your illness. So not true! Even on a bad day I sense that you go far above and beyond the "normal" requirements of owning a pet. These are forever members of your family, they have surpassed the "pet" status because you have allowed them to wiggle their way into your heart. lovicon I only wish that everyone would allow these precious gifts from God to envelope their hearts as you have done with yours.

It's a true sign of character and a wonderful one at that on how you have given yourself to this breed and others as well. Not everyone is cut out to be owned by a Boxer....seeing that you have 3 only goes to show you that someone really puts their faith in you to look after them while they are here. angelicon

Alot of times you hear the old saying that you can tell how good a certain man is by how he treats his mother? I tend to look past that and see how good he treats his animals. That is the true test. Consider yourself judged and by the way.......You passed with flying colors!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away but a few wiggles from a boxer creates a smile and that keeps the heart pure and strong! You have the very best medicine available. We wish you a speedy recovery. :D

Dan, hope you get better soon. Your babies will get you through the roughest times. What a beautiful family tribute. Well, as you know, nobody does healing vibes like the folks here at Boxerworld, so there are many healing vibes coming your way. Give the kids an extra hug from me and SammiDoodles. :)

Dan,
No one could have given such a beautiful a tribute to our wonderful boxer babies any better than you. I'm literally typing this with tears rolling down my cheeks, b/c sometimes, I, too, feel like I don't show my Boomer how much he means to me. And through it all, he still sits at my feet, and leans against my legs, and lays his head in my lap for a rub no matter what. However, while I know I'm very guilty of this, I somehow don't feel you are. You have made a definite connection with your girls and boy, and they know that, more than, I'm sure you will ever know.

We're praying you feel better soon. I wish I still had family in that area (they've moved to Mustang), I'd ask them to keep an eye out for ya'll. But, if there's anything we can do to help out from long-distance, please don't hesitate to ask.

Dan, I am so touched by your tribute to your dogs. I feel like everyone else that your boxer babies are your family as is all other animals that come into your home. I feel more love from my pets then I do my own family at times and I know that I am never judged by them they love me no matter what. Those babies of yours know that you love them dearly and even though you feel bad because you may have used harsher words and tones lately to them, they still love and understand that you are going through something right now. I believe that you are probably putting more blame on yourself then need be, you sound like someone that truly loves their babies deeply, and your tribute definately brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. I have seen many of your posts, where you are upset with people for speaking roughly to their babies so we all know that this is not your normal way and so does your babies. Just get better and you sure have the prayers and thoughts of everyone here at BW I am sure.

Hi Dan,
I am so sorry to hear that you have had a rough road lately. And that was such a tender tribute to your furbabies. And don't for a minute think that they feel anything other than love and devotion to you. Dogs have such a wonderful ability to communicate with us. I know they were put here for a special purpose. After my surgery, Scrapper and my cat, Roscoe, knew I wasn't feeling well. They too came and laid next to me, being very careful to not step on me. Roscoe crawled up and purred on my throat, as if sending me his owning healing vibes.

You get to pick your friends, and sometimes they are closer to us than our own family. I have two dear friends who stuck with me and helped me get through my own tough times, even more than my own sister. Don't ever think you don't have any "family!" And even though most of us haven't met you in person, we are your online family here and care about you very much.
God bless and may you get well very soon.
Best regards,
Genie

I too just caught this post. Dan, I am sorry things have been so rough. You are so right people don't realize what good friends and family your dogs can be and they aren't always told how much you love them. That was a great heartfelt tribute to your "kids" and I am glad you are the way to recovery. Take care of yourself and remember we are all your family too! lovicon
