What a touching tribute to your family! I'm sure your furkids know how much you love them & appreciate them no matter how short you've been. I've always thought they know when something is troubling you & know when you're sick so I'm sure when you were laying on that kitchen floor they knew something was wrong with their daddy, even though they were outside. They just want you to feel better & get up & about again.
I do hope you get to feeling better soon....

Ok i'm crying harder now. I'm so sorry to hear that you are having problems. With Boxers in the house, you should never feel alone. I, too, am going through my share of problems with my family and I almost feel like sometimes I get no love from them, which upsets me (I am a very loving person). I just looked over at Asia sleeping on the couch after I got through reading this and had to snuggle with her for a while.

That was a beautiful post! You will be in my thoughts and prayers... ;)

Dan, I hope that whatever illness you are fighting, that you beat it. I know that being ill is never good, but it makes it even harder to be the caretaker of your family. Your babies are smart, they know when something is wrong with you. That's why they are our best friends. You are lucky to have neighboors that at the very least would notice your habits, much less step in and take care of the furkids. I'm sure that everyone is keeping you in their prayers, and if I can help in some small way, please don't hesitate to ask. Sometimes it helps to have someone to talk to. I hope you get well soon.

Wow....what an amazing tribute not only to your babies, but what is truly the most important thing in life....loving and being loved....and boxers surely have that area taken care of! I too feel bad for neglecting my babies for whatever reason and make excuses for them being rotten all the time! Hubby swears i love them more than him somedays....and somedays he might be right....LOL
Nevertheless...there is something incredibly healing about love from our boxers...it is truly unconditional and can be a spiritually healing experience just to have one of those 'naps' and bask in the warmth of the bodies and hearts of our kids!!
Hope you are feeling better soon....we will keep you in thoughts and prayers here....

I have to say, that is the best tribute from a human companion to their furbabies that I have ever read. I believe you have found the true essence of love in life, something that many many humans search for all their lives. Maggie, Susie and Rider are 3 very lucky furbabies to have found you and made their way into your heart. There are not many that are as blessed as your 3 are.

(((HUGS))) of healing to you. Your determination along with the love of your family and friends will get you through the rest of this journey in life you are on, and on the day you are feeling your old self again, there will be 3 sets of eyes rejoicing along with you, along with many many people in the world.

Take care of yourself my friend. Kailee and Clyde send you some healing slobbers and slurps.

Dan,
I, too, just caught this today. This is such a beautiful tribute to your babies.I'm so sorry that things have been so tough for you the past few months and I hope that your road to recovery only goes uphill. Everything you said is so true-our babies give us unconditional love 24/7, rain or shine.
After reading this, I felt so bad as I had a really bad day today and snapped at Pooh -simply because I was tired and cranky. As soon as I sat down, she was there with both paws on my shoulder for a hug and soft, smooshie kisses. I could almost hear her say "It's ok Mom-you just needed a hug". Please know that you have a large and loving family here at BW and we love you, too. We are sending lots of positive healing vibes and sloppy boxer kisses your way.
