    Staph infection?

Skin scrapings and a small biopsy. We had to go to a derm specialist. My boy had a lot of skin issues once upon a time. But, I do remember the red dots being a sign to my derm that it was MRSA.

    Staph infection?

Lars had similar red areas when he had methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). He had to go on a lengthy cycle of Baytril.

    Spondolosis Anyone??????

I hope Cooper feels better with the prednisone! Lars, Lily and I send positive vibes in his direction.

    Spondolosis Anyone??????

Hey Kate! Give Bart a hug for me. Keep me posted. Lars has been having a lot of good days lately. Finally got Lily out of her e-collar for good. I'm trying to get things back to normal -- whatever "normal" might be. :) Maybe the hyprothyroidism will be the answer to stopping the...

    Spondolosis Anyone??????

I'm not sure if this board will let us, but we could always have a weekly spondylosis thread. Say every Friday someone start the thread with a post like "this thread shares thoughts and tips on coping with babies with spondylosis" or something like that. But, again, I'm not sure if this board...

    Gross Question

Lars has done this on occasion. We officially call it "fishy butt." I think the anal glands express that usually when defecating or peeing. In my baby's case, he might express them when scared or sometimes when playing and sometimes when he is licking a little aggressively at the behind. We...

    Spondolosis Anyone??????

Hey Kate! I've posted in this thread and I posted last week about the spondylosis. I also have a 3 year old male boxer named Lars dx with spondylosis. Did the vet tell you which vertabrae are involved? As far as I am concerned, I wish Lars would stop jumping because he can injure his back...

    Need some quick advice

The chewing of the bandages happened with the first e-collar I bought. We were being cheap and bought one from a pet store rather than get fitted at the vet's office and thus I trusted the first e-collar and I left her in the crate and had a conversation with my mom in the kitchen and minutes...

    Need some quick advice

We have a 6 month old girl who was just spayed and had dew claws removed (Thursday). We had to get an e-collar yesterday as she chewed off one of the bandages. Well, my 3 year old male who is an anxious, scared, uptight dog is just freaking out over the collar. Yes, it really is huge... I...

    Allergies! Licking, Licking, Licking!

He gets the hot oil treatments at the vet. I do not know what product they use, but I am sure it is something for dogs. Also, we did see a dermatologist for dogs. A lot of speciality animal practices have different departments. We didn't shampoo Lars daily, but rather every 2 weeks (my...

    Allergies! Licking, Licking, Licking!

We went through a lot of skin issues and licking with our male boxer. I posted a lot of details to someone else. We also had the yeast problem. We used Malaseb shampoo (can't remember how often he was bathed) and Malaseb spray every night on his feet and chin. And things eventually cleared...

    Spondolosis Anyone??????

Hey Kodie! Part of the problem on your search is I believe it is spelled with a y. My 3.5 year old male boxer was just diagnosed recently with spondylosis. Jan (who responded previously) provided some interesting information to me in the previous threads. So Lars has complete bridging of...

    Lily and Lars update

Well, Lily is home and resting comfortably. Uneventful surgery and I'm praying for uneventful recuperation. :) Lars is doing better. Seems Lily's hospitalization was a nice break for Lars. Lots and lots of resting for him. His back was a little sore yesterday, but I rubbed him a lot...

    pink lips?

Oh, my boy could write a book on skin problems. We went through what seems like it all from about 6 months to about 2 and a half. He's had D-mange, allergies, MRSA, raw lips, raw feet, red bumps, black bumps... but I don't think they've ever been white. Let me know how it goes and try not to...
