Nutro Ultra classifies as a premium food, but it isn't an allergy formula and still contains a lot of grain. Given the extent of the allergy problems your guy has, it would be wise to choose a premium food that is aimed at allergic dogs - meaning one with a single protein source and as few grains as possible. gmacleod has already posted some good links for you - and those foods are all more suitable choices than Ultra in this situation.

Torifan - what are the hot oil treatments? And you saw a dermatologist for aminals? Malaseb shampoo and have had good success but I would need to bathe him daily! With 3 kids that is not going to happen. And how can that really be good for their skin???

He gets the hot oil treatments at the vet. I do not know what product they use, but I am sure it is something for dogs. Also, we did see a dermatologist for dogs. A lot of speciality animal practices have different departments. We didn't shampoo Lars daily, but rather every 2 weeks (my memory is foggy), but he did get the Malaseb spray every night on the feet and chin.
