    Scabs on top of neck

well...actually...we take her to the dog park a couple times a week...and yes...she sometimes gets pretty worked up with some of the other dogs. I didn't think they big hard enough to break the skin though....you think this is it?

    Scabs on top of neck

I just noticed 3 or 4 scabs on the top of our 1.5 year old female's neck. They're all within 3-4 inches of each other and are about half the size of a penny. They don't seem to be bothering her...haven't seen her itching or anything. Any idea what this could be? We haven't switched foods...

    Bell training success...

Estrada.... I'm sure we didn't do it "by the book"...but here's what we did. Our kitchen and family rooms adjoin. Off the family room is a hallway back to the rest of the house. Off the kitchen is the dining room. We put baby gates up between the family room and hallway, and between the...

    Bell training success...

Well...we've been bell training for a week now and our 1-year old seems to have gotten the hang of it! She rang the bell about a dozen times yesterday. The only problem is she rings it whether she just wants to go out and play or has to go to the bathroom...either way we're fine with it...

    Blue Buffalo food

We're about to switch our 1-year old rescue boxer from Bil-Jac to a higher quality food. Bil-Jac is what her foster parents were feeding her so we wanted to keep her on it initially to lessen the stress of a new home. Now that she's been with us for a month we'd like to get her on something...

    Howling

We adopted a one year old, Cali, about 3 weeks ago and are new to the breed. So my question is this...my son has discovered when he plays his harmonica he can make Cali howl. Is she distressed when she howls? It is a howl not a cry, but it seems mean to me. What do you think?

    Things to entertain the boxer.

Laser pointer. Good god....what a riot. We play this all the time. I knew cats love'em....but I've never seen a dog go ape over a laser pointer like our boxer.

    Getting up pet odor...

We're currently housetraining our 1-year old rescue. She has found a spot in the house where our previous dog had quite a few accidents as she was getting older. I've used PetZyme on the areas in question but I don't think the odor is completely out. Is there any way to completely get the...

    Bil-Jac not recommended...

Thanks...I can always count on you for a quick response. I looked at dogfoodanalysis.com and wrote down a few to check on. I'm going to the pet store this weekend to see if they carry any of these. The ones I identified as possible candidates are: Canidae Natural Balance California...

    Bil-Jac not recommended...

Wow...who knew dog food could be such a big deal? We just rescued a 1-year old female boxer. The group that we rescued her from said she had been eating Bil-Jac. We wanted to minimize the number of changes since her home was already going to change...so we stuck with Bil-Jac. Now that I read...

    ear shape question

I had the same question, but my boxer is over a year old. Is it too late?

    Housetraining 1-year old rescue

Thanks for the advice. At a minimum, we'll do a better job of keeping the house closed-off and keeping her in the same room we're in. If it's not possible for short durations during the day we can put her in her crate...she seems not to mind it too much. I'll also research the Bell Training...

    Housetraining 1-year old rescue

We just rescued a 1-year old female from a local rescue group. The foster family that she was living with said she was housebroken. While she often goes outside, she's had quite a few accidents in the house as well. It's only been one and a half weeks...are we expecting too much for her to...
