That is a great idea!! I love the brindle boxer tat too but I think one of your very own cutie pie is even better :) Looking forward to seeing the "final product"!!

Our son in law has a tatto of his boxer on his bicep. He took a head shot picture of the dog to the artist and he drew a great tatto of him.
It is very nice on him. I like tattos but I dont know that I would do one. They hurt dont they?

It really depends where you get it. My brother's was on his shoulder/upper arm, and although it was meant to have colour added later, he chose not to because he found it so painful. It looks great in just black though. I got mine in a very well padded area (my backside - although I wouldn't neccessarily get a boxer tat there  ) and I found that it didn't hurt nearly half as much as I expected.

I think the bonier the area the more it hurts.

I think it's a fabulous idea. i wish I would have thought of that I'm actually thinking of getting a new tatoo. Anway I'd love to see it if you decide to get it.

I had a headshot of Z done on my arm the week after he died. When he was a year old or so I inked his paw with finger paint and made some prints. From that I had a tattoo artist transfer the footprint to my leg. I will have one done of every dog I have. Actually we both have pretty many tattoos.
Yes a good artist will work from photos you give him. He can show you on paper what he has in mind and if you don't like it ask him to try again (on paper). It may cost a little more to find a good artist but you don't want bad quality. Here's a shot of Z right after it was done.

sounds good but i would check out differant artist and see their work. some are good at flames and skulls and not so good at portrats or wild life. so take your time to find the right artist. have fun & looking forward to a picture.

I'd love to see the paw print. I think that's a fabulous idea. As much as I like the portrait I think a paw print would be really cool. Is it possible for you to show me a picture of the paw print.

I think getting a tattoo of your boxer is a great idea and the picture of Z is fantastic.

It would definately have to be done by the right artist though as it would be a nightmare if you weren't happy with the finished result or if it ended up looking more like a bulldog than a boxer.

It's true that bonier areas of the body are more painful when tattooed than others, because I've got one on my buttock and one on my rib cage and the one on my ribs was way more painful to have done. :(

Your shoulder is quite bony and could be painful, but you can probably have the work done over one or two sittings so you wouldn't have to suffer for too long in one go.

One more thing, the guy who did my second tattoo on my ribs said that in his experience women are much better at getting tattoos than men who can sometimes be big babies about the pain. Of course we already knew that!

Oh yeah, there IS that, too. Of course, I didn't tell my brother that. ;)

You've got the classic flashy fawn boxer boy there! Make sure you find a good tattoo artist that can do him justice! Go for it!
