Can your boxer recognize other boxers?

We were at the dog park this weekend and about 5 to 6 other boxers showed up (the most I've ever seen there). It seemed like mine instantly stopped playing with the other dogs and started playing with the boxers. Two gorgeous brindles about my Thor's age were running around and Thor was chasing them (they were girls too). I couldn't tell which one was mine at first. It seemed like they were all playing with just each other. Of course there was a little trouble when you get about 6 boxers together. But I think we (the boxer owners) knew they were just playing even though it seemed like they were fighting. Of course we got some dirty looks. But the boxers seemed to hang together. All those nubs wiggling together! :)

Completely Boxer Crazy
kneesaa had to go to the kennel when we went on vacation and there were so many dogs there, she walked and looked at them all, then when we got to where there was another brindle boxer, she just stopped, and the two of them stared at each other, then started going nuts hopping up and down! it was hilarious!!!!

I honestly think that they do recognize other Boxers. When we take Abbi to the dog parks, it's almost as if she's holding back when playing with other dogs (not so much of the flying paws and pouncing) but when any of the other Boxers show up, it's on!

Hayden is still too young and wears himself out early just by trying to keep up with his sister!

Boxer Buddy
Ty is the same way. When we take him to doggie day care, as soon as he runs in he finds his "girlfriend," a female boxer who is a few month older than him and according to the staff, they play with each other non stop all day long. So sweet:) He loves to play with all other dogs, but if there is a boxer around, they gravitate to each other immediately!

Absolutely! Of course, Mackensie loves to play with any dog, but wherever we happen to be she will pass up play with any other dogs for another Boxer. She is just happy to be out and about, but if a Boxer comes near, watch out for that wiggle butt!

Maggie has never met another boxer :( I haven't seen a boxer in Utah all summer! But at puppy kindergarten she just LOVES this little boston terrior and a little black lab mix. She doesn't want anything to do with the mellow dogs, but the playful ones she is all over it! Very cute.

I'm thoroughly convinced that Chief realizes when he comes in contact with another boxer! With any other dog, he gets excited and wants to play, of course. However, when it's a boxer... he gets really low to the ground and starts peeing instantly (thank god we've always been outside). Then he eases his bum wiggles back up to normal level... then goes nuts!!!!!!! With other dogs, the reaction is totally different! Do you think they know??????

Absolutely! They seem to know the difference between other breeds and boxers! Molly has her favorite friends (boxers)to play with and other friends (other breeds) she plays with, but she is always more excited with other boxers. It's almost as if other breeds can't comprehend the way that boxers play. They (boxers) are in a league of their own!
