I have been reading the threads and looking at several pictures about tails and have come to the conclusion that Ciera's was done wrong. Hers lays down like a rots does. It does not stick up at all. We adopted her and I can find out how it was done but was trying to get some input before I call the previous owner. Any ideas or is the "laying down" version acceptable also?

It sounds just a bit short like my Dayla's! When she wiggles her tail her entire body wiggles because the tail is so short!

It isnt neccessarily wrong ...just short. At least that's the picture I am getting when you describe it as looking like a Rottie's tail...

I think the whole body wiggle comes with the Boxer not the tail crop length. All our dogs do this but Sheeba is the only one with an extremely short tail.

Also, from what I can tell it doesn't matter how short the tail is...they can still be held up. If the tail lays down then that 's just how your Boxer is holding it. Using Sheeba for an example agian...her tail is about an inch long (if we're lucky!) and she does hold it up. Watch your Boxer and see if the tail doesn't come up when playing.:)

Another thing...your dog might just have a low tail setting. This seems like it keeps them from holding the tail as high as others, but they can still bring them up...:)

Jackson's whole body wiggles when his tail does too. His tail also lays down or stands up depends on his mood I guess. Usually it lays down when he is relaxed, but when he looks outside or is checking something out outside it stands up.
