I just got my second Boxer last Sunday. Yesterday I took her to the Vet cause she puked up a big ol worm. It was still alive. Nasty! She had been vommitting all day. She had the runs really bad. So I took her to the Vet. They gave her a de-wormer. Can Someone tell me how long its gonna be before she eats again, she hasn't eaten in two days now. She is spitting up after she drinks water, Not really vommitting, more like a baby spitting up.
She is losing weight. I'm getting pretty worried. My other Boxer (Bailey) has a Vet appointment on Thursday, I'm thinking about bringing the little one (Brandy) in too..... Any ideas? I'm I just too worried?

I can't tell you how long before your pup eats again.
Why don't you ring the vet that treated her & ask, I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
I'd also be worried about her becoming dehydrated.
It doesn't take alot for a young puppy to become dehydrated especially if she has the runs.
Here is a link that will give you some additional information about roundworms.

I tend to think another trip to the vet, sooner rather than later, is needed.
Or at the very least a phone call to clarify your new puppies situation.

I was just doing some reading on roundworms. I read that they will pass them when they go #2. It sounded like she is gonna pass them all at once? This sound right? My wife said she did go #2 once today. It was totally runny but she didn't know if there were any worms in it. ( She just had major eye surgery, she is diabetic) So she cant see too good. I'm gonna take her to the Vet tomarrow when I take Bailey. But I'd like to get some sleep tonight. CAn anyone tell me what I should be looking for?

BTW, I've been reding alot of the older post on here. And O man.

1. My Bailey Girl wont go near Canidae, Iam, or Science Diet. She only likes Pedigree, So with the little one I'm blending the Canidae and the Puppy Pedigree. She loved it the first day. Since she hasn't eaten much cause of the worms.

2. Does it really matter what brand name, as long as its a brand name.

3. Pedigree wont kill 'em will it?

Thanks 4 the time, TonyR.....

WORMS!!! First off, worms and I don't mix. I'll tell you a little story that might make you smile or shudder about worms and me.:D The first night we had Dasia I was getting her ready for bed. All of a sudden, she coughs up what seems to be a rubber band. I think to myself where did she get that? Well a few seconds go by... Wait, the tails moving and I'm twisting it between my fingers. It's not a rubber band, it's a worm!!! wormicon After I regained consciousness ;), we took her to the 24hr emergency vet as it was about 10pm Sunday night and we’ve never heard or seen dogs getting worms (my first dog). $150 later and a sever case of rubber bandphobia Dasia was doing fine. She was dewormed and injected with fluids because she was dehydrated. However, she did have a very bad case of roundworms. When she would go #2, a whole colony of worms would come out, it was bad. She did eat the next day and kept #2ing them out. If I were you, I would take her to the Vet ASAP as she may be dehydrated, 2 days without food and water is an awful long time. An easy test to do is to pull her skin up and let go. If it goes back down slow, she is dehydrated. If it goes down fast (normal), she is doing fine.

HTH and good luck

The name brand means nothing, it is all about the ingredients. If it has to many fillers in the top 10 ingredients I would stay away from it. I would comparison shop the ingredient lists on a few brands to get the idea. Things to avoid in large amounts (ingredients are listed by highest percentage first) are Corn, Animal Fat, Corn Gluten Meal, etc.

If you use the search engine feature of this site I am sure you will find more info on this then you wish to read ;)

I have read many on this already.

Go to the vet and run there. I would be very concerned about a young pup doing this. Have him run a parvo test. My puppy had parvo and exhibted all the symptoms you are talking about. The runs, not eating anything not even a treat, and vomiting up everything including water. Your puppy can become dehydrated very very fast so fluids are necessary. Please keep us posted on results.
