I am not sure if this is where I should post this, but I hope I can get some advice or help.

Izzy just turned 6 years old. She has slept in my bed everynight since she was about 3 months old. She was a very good puppy and rarely in a crate. Then Gus came along, and around 9 months old, started sleeping in bed with me as well. So, it has been about 4 years that I have had 2 boxers sleeping in my bed. Now, I can't sleep if they aren't in my bed. They are ALWAyS in my bed EVERY night. For the past week, Izzy has been sleeping in her doggie bed or on a pillow on the floor. I hate it! I know some of you are probably thinking its a good thing, but it really bothers me. She does have knee problems, but I know she can get in bed, she will come up if I call her, but then get down to sleep. Why would she all of a sudden start to do this? It just kind of worries me that something is wrong. Its not too hot because I have the AC on, and she isn't panting. She has to have surgery in a few weeks for her knee, a lump removed from her shoulder, and her gums (hyperplasia). I wonder if I kicked her in my sleep or something, I have no idea!! It makes me so sad when I wake up and my baby is sleeping in her bed on the floor :( Gus usually sleeps against my back, and Izzy against my legs, and its so weird with her not there!
Any adivce, suggestions, ideas???

Zoe stopped sleeping in my bed when I turned on my air conditioner. It's been cool enough a couple of nights to turn it off and she'll jump up then. I don't think mine is too cool either, but she doesn't like it. If it is her knees, maybe you could put steps by the bed so she doesn't have to jump. I hope it's something that simple. I'm like you and miss Zoe when she doesn't sleep in my bed!

I don't have any advice but I know how odd this is for you because Harley did this a few times recently. She got up on my bed at first, but then after a while she got in the chair. It was just really weird to wake up and she wasn't there. But I know she did it because she doesn't like Titan to be touching her when she sleeps LOL, and he was closer to her end than she liked those nights.

Is this something she has been doing for several nights in a row, or randomly? With her medical issues, she might just not be able to get comfy right now. Have you felt her over to see if she has any new pain? If she isn't having new pain I wouldn't worry, even though it feels wrong to you.

Sleeping Habits

Romeo is six and has a slight tear in his left rear ACL. He spends a lot of time in the bed and until about three months ago always slept in bed through the night. Actually he is kind of a bed hog. Now he goes to bed with me but sometime during the night or early morning he goes to his bed on the floor. He does come in for some morning cuddle time when he sees that I'm waking. I think he just likes having his own space.

I decided against the surgery since the tear is slight, I'm giving him 7mg/lb of Bayer aspirin and physical therapy. He has a slight limp, no pain.

Is your air vent blowing on where she sleeps? It might actually be too cool for her. Another possibilty, if Thor's joints are bothering him he won't get into a bed, not even one of his on the floor. He seems to prefer the firmness of the floor.

She has done it for several nights in a row now, probably over a week. She will have surgery soon, and will have to sleep in another room while she heals since she wont be allowed to jump, but after that, I hope she returns to bed with Gus and I.

The vent is actually under my bed. I was going to move my bed to see if that helps. I move my bed between 2 different spots, and I moved it a few months ago. I would think she would be cooler on the floor laying by the bed since the air blows out from under the bed. She might just like her space. I wish she could talk to me!

This is where she likes to sleep, or in the bed next to this pillow. Dont look at the mess of toys, haha! This is just a normal sized pillow, she curls up on it. She looks super cute, but I still want her in my bed. I laid in my bed with her tonight when I was watching tv, and she sat on me and leaned against me, and then cuddled :)
