Help!! My boxer baby is 8 weeks old. He has been doing great working on house/crate training but last night and today its been raining and he REFUSES to go in the rain. He cowered under the porch for 30 min before I gave up and then went in and peed on the kitchen floor. Any suggestions?

We have a 2 year old boxer (Samson) and a 8 wk. old boxer (Leilani). My two year old hated going in the rain but he will go now. He would just hold it and I would have to carry him out with an umbrella so he didn't get totally wet. Now he waits until it slacks up then makes a mad dash to do his business and returns promptly. Sometimes he goes out while it's raining hard and comes in soaked with this crazy look in his eyes. He is a lot better than he was. I did notice when he really started to like taking baths he didn't mind going in the rain. Our youngest one is doing the same thing. It's very common. You just have to put them out in it.

I had the same problem with Shelby for a while. I had to take her out in it and walk her around (meaning I got wet too, but oh well). If she still did nto go, she had to go in her crate, to avoid her going on the floor. I would then wait a little while and take her out again. Once she finally went, I made a big deal over it and went inside and went back to normal (usually this was at night, so we then went to bed). This made for some late nights, but it has worked. Now, all I have to do is say "Shelby, get down those steps" and she goes down, and quickly does buisness her and then comes inside.

Sarge hates the rain also, it looks like he is walking on his tip toes when it is raining. When he was a puppy he hated to go out into the rain, but I would take him on his leash to his potty spot (place I always took him to go to the bath room) and give him the potty command. Once he went potty he would get a treat and we would race back into the house. Now all I have to do is tell him go potty and he will race around the house to his potty spot go potty and then come back into the house. If it is really muddy I have a mess to clean up when he returns. Hope that helps some.

That is normal! He's a smart pup... who would want to go out in the rain to pee 
It can sort of be a battle of wills for a while, but eventually he will get the idea. I would take Willis outside in the snow and praise him like crazy whenever he actually went outside in the rain. Then give him treats whenever he came in and waited to be cleaned off. The first few rain/snow storms we had lots of accidents, but he got over it.

Us too...Coco is not a fan of rain. At first we literally, Like others here, had to put her on a leash or carry her out away from the house and give the command we use for her and wait for her to go. That meant we got wet too. She would run for the door or sit at our feet with the most annoyed look on her face, making me feel guilty. Not a lot of fun but you must be persistant and patient. Now she'll go, not that she wants to, but we can coax her out to go. It'll come with time.

I have the same problem with Jag. He will stand still and refuses to go past the doorway when it is raining out. I have to tell him "here" in a firm voice and he still tries to return to the house. But I go out in the rain with him and he eventually goes when I tell him the command "find a spot".
I give him lots of praise and we race back into the house. Lots more praise while he is getting his feet wiped and then a really good treat is in order.
I don't blame him though, I wouldn't want to go out in the rain either.

Zander is almost 4 months now and I still have problems with him in the rain. I just get out an umbrella and walk around the yard. ALSO... he hates the wet or cold grass. Regardless if it is raining or brite and sunny, if hte grass is wet he wont go near it. Its the funniest thing he just hold his paws up high when he steps and dashes for the deck or gravel or the driveway. He usually ends up going there and im trying to break him of this but he just wants none of it. It'll have to stop, its going to snow here soon in a month or so!
