Won't eat anything!

I do not know what to do. Duke will not eat a thing. I took him to the vet this afternoon and he gave me Albon. He said that it would coat his stomach and help with the puking that he was doing. He also gave him a parvo booster.

I think the throwing up has to do with the empty stomach. He was throwing up the other day and I got him to eat again yesterday and he recovered nicely. Well, last night I couldn't get him to eat anything again. So, this morning he started puking again.

It is really frustrating me. I am having a hard time understanding why a hungry dog won't eat anything. I mean, I have tried it all. I have put the food in his mouth and all. There is nothing that he will eat. Not a chicken finger, not a french fry, not a beef cube, not a treat, not even a skittle. I do not know what to do. I am about to run to the grocery store and pick up some chicken soup. Maybe this will help. If this doesn't help I am not sure what is going to happen!

Has anyone experienced anything like this? If so, what do I do?

I was going to say that maybe he was bored of his food, but if he's even refusing the good stuff (human food) i would be super - worried!!! Has your vet done any tests on him at all??? How old is he?

ok, he trew up again. He is a pup and about 15 weeks. I don't know what to do. Just got back with Chicken Soup and that was a no go. Next step will be Pediasure in a spray bottle! Please someone tell me something.

I don't have any great insights but when Riley wouldn't eat this past summer (she hurt her neck/back) I tried cottage cheese and she loved it...she's been eating it ever since. Riley also seems to love plain white rice which would be good for an upset stomach. She has also started eating vanilla yogurt recently and loves it (which I also heard is good for an upset stomach as it stimulates the flora). I don't know if any of these things will help with your pup. Good luck and I hope he/she feels better!!

it is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. I took him out to use the restroom and he could barely walk up the stairs. He was tripping and falling all over himself. Then I gave him some pediasure in a spray bottle and he threw that up as well. I don't know what to do. He just sits in this pathetic position with the worst look in his eyes.

Get him to the vet!!! I would be very concerned if he is throwing up like that and falling! Puppies can dehydrate so quickly... get him to the vet now!!! (Don't mean to sound bossy... just trying to help out your pup!)

Maybe if he can't eat, throwing up he has a blockage of some kind??? Has he been pooping???

Keep us posted on whether he's ok... we'll be thinking of him..

if you read my first post, I did take him to the vet. He gave me some medication and that was that. He told me that if he isn't better in a day or so to bring him back. He said to try pediasure. I am thinking that its just a stomach virus and thats the reason he is throwing up. He gave me albon and he hasn't had any of that on him in about 6 hours, so maybe thats why he trew up the pediasure. I have already taken him to the vet, do I need to take him to another? This is so frustrating!

He has been pooping, however, I don't think that there is anything left in his system to poop out.

Take him to another vet? Your vet should never have given a Parvo booster when he wasn't feeling well. :( How old is Duke, puppies can get dehyrated very quickly. Try and given him some water, but give him a just a little bet a time like maybe a tablespoon. How much Pediasure did you give him? You could also cook him up some chicken and oatmeal. Only give him a little at a time and make sure it is slightly warm.

If he has a stomach virus of some sort a 24 hour fast is usually a good idea, but does still need some water. You could try spraying some into his mouth.

I hope he is feeling better soon.

VET..VET ASAP! Your puppy is probably severely dehydrated and may need subcutaneous or IV fluids IMMEDIATELY. Pups can dehydrate very quickly and with the loss of appetite ect. this will compound the issue and affect his immune system as well. If Vet is unavailable go to an emergency clinic, something is wrong and must be addressed asap. Did your vet run a CBC (blood work up) on your pup? Many times Vets are reluctant to run tests in iffy cases because they don't want their clients to think that they are trying to bilk them for $. Be assertive with him/her, I don't want to scare you but your pups life may be at risk. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

well I am really getting scared, but he is drinking water on his own which is assuring. He looks like he has lost about 5 pounds in the past few days. He is nothing but skin and bones. He is still throwing up. Could this be because there is nothing on his stomach and the bile is causing him to throw up. Could it be that the food I am giving him is upsetting his stomach b/c he hasn't had anything to eat. He just sits around the house and gazes off in space and lies down all day. I am about to call the vet and see whats up. Thanks for the advice. If you have anymore, please share.

Thanks,
Jacob and Duke
