Winter and the Boxer

A lot of dogs don't like the feeling of boots on their feet and won't tolerate them. A good way to get the salt off their pads is to keep a pack of baby wipes near the door, get the unscented/hypoallergenic ones. These come in handy whenever it is wet, snowy, icy, muddy outside, and you'll have less tracking in on your floors too.

Cinnamon loves to be outside.. at first she would shvier so i bought her a sweater but for some reason she doesnt shiver out there anymore. I live in ottawa, so I know about the cold weather your having. I assume probably when the snow starts to fall she'll need her sweater..but shes up at 6 am with me and outside and the cold doesnt seem to bother her.

The sweater i got her is a turtle neck and it goes all the way over her back then has these 2 straps to put the back legs through so it partially covers the hips..but she may out grow it before it gets really cold so im probably going to have to invest in a new one..maybe as a Christmas present since our coldest weather is Dec/Jan. I was thinking of getting booties for her as well because the ppl around here over do the rock salt and i dont want her to get irritated or anything like that.

My boy has a coat also. The winters in E. Tn are not harsh but colder than what he likes. His coat is like a horse blanket. Velcro around the neck & a velcro strap under the belly. I can't remember the company but most of the horse supply stores have a section for dog coats, blankets, etc. His is tartan plaid & is rain repellent & insulated.

I know how you feel

I can certainly sympathize with you as the weather here on the prairies can get down right unbearable during the winter. Last year when Mateus was your pup's age he was shivering during our walks too and lifting his feet when they got too cold. We quickly remedied it with boots and a jacket. This year we actually bought our pups bella clavas as their ears will need to be covered too for the extreme temperatures in Saskatchewan. I personally think that they look super adorable too!! Definitly do up the coat and boots!
