Wilma is now my heroin! To live somewhere where owls are a threat to my pet just freaks me out a bit...being a Canuck from Ontario! :) Around here we use plastic owls to scare away pigeons..lol!!

At 4:30 am this morning Wilma bolted out of bed, past our bed and out her doggy door like a bolt of lightening. I looked out my window to see Wilma on her hind legs against the fence barking and growling at a GIANT owl.

Just a thought. Can you lock the doggy door at night so they can't get out without supervision or at that time of the day?? That close call would be enough to concern me about 24 hr access to the doggy door.

I am not so much worried about Wilma as she is 60+lbs. My little Em is the one I worry about. I think he is afraid of the dark so I am not worried about him sneaking out during the night. He is never outside without her. But to answer your question....yes...we will now lock the doggy door at night. At least until Em gets a little bigger!

I've always heard thet having an owl on your property was good luck... We have a woodpecker that harasses the dogs around here, nothing violent just friendly play =)

Good girl Wilma!!

When Lily was small, we had to watch out when we were at my bf's parents house because they have those large owls too plus a pair of bald eagles nesting by their house so we didn't wanted Lily to become birdy food.
