Well, we first chose the name Tyson. Then, we learned that the breeders actually named the puppies to keep track of them. Ours happened to be named Winslow. My husband loved this name as he is a Cleveland Browns fan and Winslow was named after Kellyn (sp) Winslow.

I told my husband that if our dogs personality was very playful, active, and/or mischevious that we would change his name to Tyson.

If his personality was more laid back, then we would keep the name Winslow.

We went for another visit and the breeder told us (without knowing about our discussion about the names) that our dog was very laid back and reserved.

That settled it and honestly, the name fits him perfectly :)

Oscar was named by his foster mom for Oscar de la Hoya. When I first saw him on petfinder I knew he was the one, but I did not like the name, and we decided to change his name to Boxer Rebellion and call him Rebel. From the minute I saw him, he just looked like Oscar, so we kept the name, and Rebel is too southern sounding for a Minnesotan anyway.
Mali was named by her prior owner for Muhammed Ali. We considered changing her name to Hot Tamale but when Steve learned of the source of her name he wanted to keep it because he's an Ali fan. Before we got Mali we wanted to name our next two dogs Torque and Turbo, as Steve has modified both our Miatas with a Turbocharger in his and a Supercharger in mine, but those names will have to wait. It could be a long wait since I am now saying I have given Steve a boy baby and a girl baby and I'm done. foolicon
So we have Oscar de la Hoya and M.Ali! :)

Well I let the b/f name her because he has always wanted a boxer. So her name is Duster after his first car, a 72 Duster 340. The breeder we got her from had named her Reese (ree c)(like the candy) and her mommys name was Kalie Reese (rees). So her name is Duster Reese(rees). haha they are pronounced different, I dunno if that helps at all.

tatum

Super Boxer
Tatum was named Casper first and when we got him at 14 wks we didn't think the name fit. We got Tatum's name after Tatum Belle on the Denver Broncos (big broncos fans!).

Well before we got Mangus we were playing around with different names and stuff for fun. We knew we were getting a boxer, just not when. At work we have some weird terms we use (usually come from the managers), and one of them is Mangus . . . as in "that end display looks mangus" (i.e. pretty crappy . . . for lack of a better word) or "you have some mangus in your hair" (as told to me by one of my bosses  ). One day I was at home and said something to the effect of "this house looks Mangus" (it was a mess). Well that was it, after explaining to DFiance what it ment, that was what we were calling the dog. I initailly was planning to get a male, so it fit a bit better . . . but oh well.

Only problem is when people ask her name they initially think I'm saying Angus, when I correct them . . . well they just think I'm foolicon . Oh well she's my baby and I love her, weird name and all lovicon

We have a fawn female, named Lola. On our way to see her litter "Cococabana" came on the radio, and as soon as I saw the little puppy..Lola just fit. For our second boxer we wanted to get Lola a little brother. We wanted a name that went with Lola, I got stuck on "Larry" but it didn't seem right. My boyfriend thought of "Hef", after Hugh Hefner, scince Lola is the showgirl. When the litter was born we definatley knew the name suited him as he was the only male in the litter of 8! Now we are just waiting to take our little brindle Hef home!

My husband is a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, so Rolen is named after Scott Rolen, the 3rd baseman. We get a lot of strange looks since we live in the suburbs of Chicago and are St. Louis fans. Rolen wears his STL collar proud!
