Why'd you name your boxer that?

We did the common "name him after a Boxer" thing...but also chose Dempsey because it is actually Jack Dempsey and my boyfriend's name is Jack . Jack Dempsey also won the World Heavyweight title in 1919 which is the year our house was built.
Talking with a client one day I found out he had a Boxer growing up. He sighs "Jack Dempsey." Thinking he was talking about my Dempsey I just kept talking. A few minutes later he asked what my boy's name is. When I told him Dempsey, we realized we both had dogs with the same name.
Don't know if I found it more irritating that we weren't creative enough, or amazing!

Hi, we just went through the lovely naming process ourselves. We have a 20 mth old daughter and wanted something that was easy for her to say and that we liked. Our baby actually got her name as a joke. We were leaving the grocery store and i asked my bf, "so what are we gonna name her?" then he jokes "KIA" ( we drive a Kia...
) he thought it would be funny calling her in from out side( Kia get in the house, meanwhile the cars parked in the lane..) anywho... nothing more was said for awhile. But Kia stuck... we thought it was cute, definatly havent heard a dog called that around here.... and the bonus is our daughter can say her name...

We named Bo after Bochephus- my husbands most favorite musician. Sha-Daisy after the group She-Daisy and our 
Gretchen after Gretchen Wilson. We have ended all their names with my husbands hunt club Kennel which is the Backwoods Kountry Rebel. (and no, it's not a breeding kennel but a coon hunting kennel name & no they don't kill the coon they just tree them- no racoons have been hurt or injured in the typing of this post ).

Completely Boxer Crazy
Leila was named after Mohammed Ali's daughter...yeah, I know real original. Rugby was named after the sport, obviously, and DH played in college and loved it. We thought it was another contact sport and low and behold....he does movements like a "scrum" when he gets frisky and plays with Leila. It is a perfect fit!

We just got our new puppy a last week but have had the name ready for a couple of years. His name is Dash Riprock. If any of you remember the Beverly Hillbillies show, Dash Riprock was a movie star that dated Ellie May in a few episodes. Were not big Beverly Hillbillies fans but we loved the name. Of course there are a few nicknames that come from this...the ripper, dash man...rip...etc...
The name suits him perfectly and of course if we ever get a female I suppose she would have to be named Ellie May......

Jackson came to us during our 2 hour drive home from the breeder (we were so desperate we began saying names like "whistle nose" and "cone head"). My husband loves Johnny Cash, the song "Jackson" started playing and that was it!

We had the hardest time naming my boy! The whole family fought for a few weeks, then one day my mother and I were watching our soap "Days of our lives" which we have both been watching since kids and the new baby was named as we were going back and forth with names. I then looked up the name on the internet and it ment "Devine gift of god". It fit, that was his name, "Theo".

Our last dog (a Black Lab) was named Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird (my husband's favorite movie)
The whole family had favorite names picked out before our boxer baby was born, however, we couldn't agree on any, now that's a surprise! Until my daughter said " How about Boo, no Radley." So the tradition lives on with the To Kill a Mockingbird theme.
Who knows our next Boxer may be Atticus!

Her name is Midas...
A couple of days before we brought our puppy home I heard a good house song called, "The Midas touch"; the whole notion of the god of gold is cool too... we treat her like gold and mostly, because it's unique!
