Why you named your Boxers what you did?

My dogs names

Everyone in our family are big Notre Dame fans, so our dogs are all named after "The Irish"
"ND"
"RUDY"
"SHAMROCK" and
"ZORICH"

I had Toffee for three days before I came up with her name. She got called "puppy" an awful lot in those three days while I tried to come up with a name that would fit. I don't know how I actually came to say "Toffee" but it fits her coloring, and she is THE sweetest. Her full name is Toffee Talk.

We changed our dog's name to Luke. When we first got him his previous owners called him Spike. But we didn't like it cause it didn't suit him (and he didn't answer to it anyhow) I couldn't come up with a name and my bf is a huge Star Wars fan. So he suggested Luke (after Luke Skywalker of course ) and I liked it and it suited him too. Ironically (we did not think about this till weeks later) bf's brother's dogs are named Duke (fawn boxer) and Daisy. So we now have the Dukes of Hazzard..... Luke, Duke & Daisy.
I'm pushing for another puppy just so we can name it Bo

My boy is Paulie because we had a Rocky and I wanted a theme with Rocky movie names. I tried them all but none fit his personality. No one get mad at this...but one day my sister called him "cerebral paulie" and the name stuck. He was going to be Paulie Walnuts from the Sopranos but we neutered him and it really doesn't apply anymore.

We were trying to think of a good German name for her, and my BF suggested Lola because of the German film, Run Lola Run. I thought it was perfect because when we first started dating, Brad (my BF) won me over by singing "Copacabana" to me at a karaoke bar ("Her name was Lola / She was a showgirl). Too funny how these things get started...

Our poor lil girl went a week without a name, we agonized over it LOL

Since she looks like a kangaroo when she does her boxer dance we decided on Roobee

Star was named Star because she had a tiny white star shaped mark on her chin. Its gone now though.

My husbands a carpenter and named her after the line of Makita tools...

Rico: was the perfect name that I picked for my little boy on the drive home, because is SOOO sauve...and he really lives up to his name, he is such a ladies-man and such a lover always giving everyone kisses and hugs!!

Ava: It was tough to name her, nothing really just popped into my head like Rico's did, I went on a baby name website and found it, i liked it because i thought of ava gardner and because it sounded nothing like Rico. But I call her beanie most if the time, she is such a beaner!!!

We named Metal (whose AKC name is Lighthouse's Metal Thrashin' Mad) one night before we picked him (and Magnolia) up. There is an on-going joke between my fiance and I about him liking heavy metal music. I told him he should name the dog Metal and he loved it. We were particularly excited that we got to pick his full name for AKC... to give it that extra metal touch!

We named Magnolia around the same time. I always wanted a Magnolia tree ever since I was a little girl and I have never gotten around to getting one for my yard. When it came time to get the pup Magnolia was the best name for her. It was hard to say at first with all of the syllables but she's not "maggie" she is definitely a "Magnolia". For her AKC name I really wanted to incorporate a good German name. I am not German at all but I'm pretty fluent at the language and travel there very often (and i just love it there) and seeing as boxers are german descendants i thought it would be suiting. So her official name is Lighthouse's Magnolia Flitz. (Lighthouse being the breeders choice) Flitz is a german slang word (verb) for a horse that runs really really fast (like at the race track). And man, can that girl run! I love hearing about how everyone named their pups!
