why does ??!!!!

why does my boxer eat dirt ??? why does she drool ?? she has water ! i saw her the other day digging ( understandable) but when she raised her head i watched her ea the dirt eeeeeeewwwwwwww !!! is she weird ??

Its a dog thing. They all do it. Mine seem to prefer muddy water to clean for some reason. Maggie eats dirt, wood, worms, about anything. Basically, to a dog, all the world is either a chew toy or something to eat.

*grin* I have two water dishes for my pups... They're both filled from the same water source--but while the inside bowl is nice and clean, the outside one has all kinds of dirt and dead leaves and bugs in the water. They never drink from the inside dish, unless they're really really desperate. They will ask to go out, just to get a drink of water from the dirty dish! Crazy dogs...

Lucy also eats dirt, it's her favorite treat in the world. She loves when Buddy gets to running around like mad, because his great big paws rake furrows in the ground and give her lots of little bits of turf to chew on!

Brandi doen`t do it as much, but Caesar like to scrap his teeth along the ground(kinda like a scoop) to eat dirt. They always have fresh water in and outside but seem to prefer muddy water also. I can`t seem to break them of it, it worries me that they will get sick. When Caesar was a pup he got something called coccidia (can`t spell it)it`s some kind of protozoa :(or something like that and the vet told me it was from drinking standing muddy water she put him on some meds and he was fine. Has any one else ever had a dog that had this???
